Random Samplings #36: If I were the Devil & I Wanted to Destroy America
Random Samplings of a Logical Mind — I’m Lynn Woolley
I’m just saying…
ISSUE ONE: If I were the Devil.
With great respect for Paul Harvey, if I were Devil and I wanted to destroy the greatest country on Earth, I’d start by demonizing anyone who disagrees with me, and especially any president that was able to grow the economy with less government.
I’d get my guy in power, and I’d whisper in his ear: “Send them checks. Give them free childcare and free college tuition. And have the government pay for it with money we don’t have.”
I’d urge him to berate America as a nation of systemic racism. I’d work to blur the lines between good and evil, between citizen and alien, and between male and female.
I’d change anything I could to maintain power so that if and when the people awaken, it would be too late. If I were the Devil, I’d keep right on doing precisely what President Joe Biden is doing.
ISSUE TWO: Truth over facts.
Stupid stuff Joe Biden says notwithstanding, facts may be stubborn but facts are in a losing battle.
The current racial strife we’re having in America is largely based on falsehoods. With a hat tip to Michael Barone, black men are not shot by police at anything near the rate most people think. The database of the Washington Post bears it out.
3,630 people were shot and killed by police since 2015. 1,636 of the men who died were white. Just 900 were black.
As Barone says it is a sad fact that blacks are about seven to eight times more likely than whites to commit violent crimes. That means the number of white men who died in police-involved shootings was entirely out of whack. The left would call it “disproportionate.”
Who’s to blame? Media and Democrats who spread the falsehoods. Truth over facts, indeed.
ISSUE THREE: Hi Yo Silver.
You see a lot of older TV stars hawking gold on TV these days. I’ve never been big on gold because it’s expensive and volatile and it doesn’t have a lot of utility – it’s used mainly in dentistry and jewelry.
Silver is another story. I like it, and I buy a lot of it. It’s used in many things including consumer electronics. Silver is also relatively inexpensive – at this writing about $26 an ounce and it could go up.
Why? Several reasons:
First, because the Biden administration is printing money like crazy and that will drive the value of the dollar down.
Second, because of what Biden is doing, there’s a rush on silver.
Third, the world is heading into a cashless society with cryptocurrency like Bitcoin that some people embrace and some don’t trust.
Silver seems like a nice hedge against all this with the National Debt at $28 trillion and rising.
