Random Samplings 20: January 6th, the Lady & the Dale, and Weasel Words
Random Samplings of a Logical Mind
Whatever crosses our (logical) mind…
ISSUE ONE: January 6th is the Left’s new obsession.
What happened at the Capitol on January 6th is the latest crisis that the Left will not let go to waste. The idea, that extends through Democratic Party institutions and in virtually all the left-wing media, is to label the event an “armed insurrection” and use it to destroy Donald Trump and smear anyone who ever supported Trump as a white supremacist.
Here’s what they don’t like to bring up.
No one set off a bomb that day. No one fired a weapon – except for the Capitol policeman who shot 35-year old protester Ahsli Babbitt to death. Three people died of medical conditions. Officer Brian Sicknick died of a stroke the next day after the media lied to us about his having been murdered with a fire extinguisher. It seems the FBI was alerted about possible violence, but did not react. Apparently, they let a crisis happen.
ISSUE TWO: The Lady and the Dale.
The “lady” was Elizabeth Carmichael, really Jerry Dean Michael, an early transgender who was also an accomplished swindler. The “Dale” was the futuristic high-performing car he or she marketed that was really a shell with a lawnmower engine inside.
I was there, and I saw Liz in person as he-she walked the studios of WFAA radio in Dallas where I worked in the ‘70s.
“The Lady and the Dale” is the name of a much-streamed HBO documentary for which an entire film crew invaded the Mansion and interviewed me for some five hours. I told them what I thought – that Liz was a man in a dress who used our station to promote a car that wasn’t real. I landed on the cutting room floor.
I now read that the documentary’s intent is to make Liz a hero of the LGBTQ movement. I did not fit the narrative and good for me.
ISSUE THREE: Left-wing weasel words.
You know some of them. Like “pro-choice” for death and “investment” for tax-and-spend. But here are the latest.
“Expert” is a word now used as shorthand for “someone who agrees with Democrats on a divisive issue” like Climate Change or COVID. We must believe the experts, who always adhere to left-wing talking points.
“Worry” is another weasel word. It means liberals think something Republicans are doing is going to provide too much freedom. When experts worry about something, hold on to your wallet.
“Popular” is word that means “costly.” If the Associated Press tells you something is popular, it means a government giveaway like stimulus checks.
And when Democrats drone on about “our Democracy,” they really mean their proposed green utopia with no fossil fuel and few conservatives.
