Karl Marx (Wikipedia) by John Jabez Edwin Mayall

One of the main tenets of Marxism is that there should be no borders.  That also seemed to be the policy of the Joe Biden administration.

But high school students marching in the streets yelling eff ICE?  How did that happen?  How did the protests, so prevalent on college campuses, get started in high schools where 15-year-olds are essentially promoting anti-capitalist ideologies?  Will middle school students be next?

The Epoch Times, a newspaper that crusades against Communism, will tell you the Communist Chinese Party is infiltrating our schools.  Maybe so.  These young protesters are getting these left-wing ideas from somewhere.

ICE, however crudely, is enforcing laws passed by Congress.  Do high school students understand that?   Maybe it’s time for more instruction about what capitalism is, and the dangers of Marxism.

AUDIO:  Random Samplings of a Logical Mind

How did the minds of these young protesters get so messed up?

There are only a few sources.  They may be getting it from left-wing parents.  Okay; there’s not much we can do about that.  They may be getting it from cellphones via social media and that’s not good because social media is a cesspool.

RELATED: It’s Time to Rein in Political Protests

It may be coming from regular news sources.  The Associated Press (long, the standard for facts) and the Texas Tribune are slanted against ICE, Trump, and conservatism in general.  I doubt if kids are watching cable news, but its slant depends on which network you happen to be watching.  My guess is that social media, which is rife with misinformation, is a main source for young minds made of mush.

On the other hand, they may be getting it at school.  I only say this because the public schools have custody of America’s children for a great deal of their time, and a left-wing teacher can do a lot of damage in a short time.  Maybe that’s not the problem, but it’s a good thing that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and right-wing members of the Texas Legislature have finally realized that our secondary schools and our state-supported colleges need some commonsense regulating.

In Central Texas, where I live, high school students protesting ICE have been out on the streets.

Soon after this started happening in late January and February, the state government and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) issued some strict guidelines to school districts detailing consequences.  One is that school systems that facilitate walkouts will be subject to investigation and sanction including the possible appointment of a monitor.  Of course, they might also lose funding when students skip class.

Video: Leander High School student protest ICE as TEA hands down walkout guidelines

In the Austin area, there were walkouts in the Hayes Consolidated Independent School District, Cedar Park High School, and others.  Congressman Lloyd Doggett, a Democrat, was asked by KXAN-TV whether the protests ought to occur during time when school is not in session.   He replied:

I think students could protest as effectively after school as during school and I would like to see that happen, but under these directives that Gov. Abbot is putting out, if a school was to encourage a school to focus a protest after school and stay in class until then, he would be blaming and attacking and threatening their funds for having encouraged a protest.

How wimpy can you get?  Doggett is good with the protests and actually encourages them, and attacks Abbott.  No mention of Marxism, or what’s actually motivating a 15-year-old to protest.

At Belton High School, six students skipped classes to march to an H-E-B grocery store while chanting “f*ck ICE” at passing cars, according to the Temple Daily Telegram.

The newspaper quotes a 15-year-old protester as saying:

If you are more scared of getting sent to DAEP or district or getting ISS (In School Suspension) or getting suspended than fighting for the rights of innocent people who are getting taken to camps and killed just because they wanted to have a good life in America, then you are the problem.

Another one said this:

I am ashamed of half the people at my school that said that they were going to walk out and said, ‘(expletive) ICE, (expletive) Trump,’ but didn’t walk out and let the AP stop them.

The Assistant Principal (AP) apparently “discouraged students from leaving the campus,” but it seems that the students were in charge and not the hapless AP.  My thought is that the six students ought to be expelled, and learn what the consequences are for breaking the rules.

The schools should teach these children what Marxism really is.

One of the ideas behind the teachings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels is that the working class has no countries and should band together regardless of borders to fight capitalism.  Capitalism is, of course, the system that has brought wealth and prosperity to countries that practice it, but never mind that.  Marxism seeks to bring all workers together, including immigrants, for the ultimate destruction of capitalism.  This is part of what motivates Zohran Mamdani, the new Mayor of New York.

For the record, here are the ten mandates of Marxism:

1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all right of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
8. Equal liability of all to labour. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, The Communist Manifesto, trans. Samuel Moore

Now, let’s go to the Marxist.com website for an article entitled “Why Marxists Oppose Immigration Controls.”  In it, we learn why Marxists are against allowing capitalists to control the labor supply:

Marx recognises the problem: that employers are using national divisions and borders in order to pit the working class against itself. However, his solution isn’t “managed migration”, but international organisation. Marx calls for increased cooperation between labour movements across borders. Indeed, the particular passage quoted is from the Lausanne Congress of the International Working Men’s Association (the First International), which Marx dedicated himself to building.

The long article builds to an exciting climax and calls for revolution:

The reality of capitalism in the present period is that there is the money to provide housing, schools etc for all the refugees in the world, but it’s in private hands. The resources to provide a decent living standard for all the world’s inhabitants exist, but they are concentrated in the clutches of a tiny handful of billionaires and multinational corporations. This inequality is only getting worse.  Our programme is not about achieving stability and accommodation with the capitalist class, which would only be at the expense of the working class, migrant or not. Our programme must be one of uniting workers across borders in defence of conditions, against cuts and for a socialist revolution.

So, take money from people to earned it and redistribute it – a Mamdani-like policy that undoubtedly will be tried in New York, where it will fail.

What are high school students being taught?

Such high-minded concepts as free markets, rugged individualism, and even freedom itself are hard sells these days.  That a country such as the United States has a right to secure its own borders is under attack.  ICE agents, which are simply federal law enforcement agents, have become the villains.  Their harsh enforcement methods under Trump have been exploited by left-wing politicians and media that refuse to either cooperate or admit that illegals aliens are anything more than “neighbors.”

CCP influence or not, our Texas public schools have to do a better job of defending America and our way of life, which is essentially capitalism.  Marxism is a dead-end street, as history has proven over and over.  Hatred of Trump is a main factor, but Trump’s not always wrong.  Harsh tactics or not, America cannot exist with open borders and rampant illegal immigration.  Past presidents knew that, but ignored it.  Biden exacerbated it.  Trump decided to fix it.

RELATED: Who are the Democratic Socialists of America?

Now that’s he’s doing something about it, he’s catching hell.  I understand why Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey oppose Trump.  They’re in Mamdani’s camp.  They’re Democrats, a party that’s being taken over by the Socialist Democrats of America.  Walz and Frey have no stomach to oppose that political base.

But why high school students?  Why do they want to eff ICE and eff Trump?  What are they getting from social media, their parents, their teachers?  Rush Limbaugh and many other conservatives in media have long said that our schools are churning out little Marxists.  Did you doubt them when they said that?  Do you doubt them now?

It’s Mayor Mamdani now in New York City, and God help New Yorkers, and forgive them for what they have done.  Zohran Mamdani was sworn in with his hand on a Quran, the holy book of the 19 hijackers that flew airplanes into the towers of the World Trade Center on 9/11.  How soon New Yorkers forgot.

It gets worse.

In his inaugural speech, the new Mayor promised to get rid of incentive, the profit motive that creates excellence through competition. The Mamdani administration will install a new system of collectivism, perhaps with such ideas as government-run grocery stores and rent control.

And if he follows through on his socialist proclivities, he may also continue to be in favor of globalizing the Intifada.  The people of New York voted for this – and they got it.

AUDIO:  Random Samplings of a Logical Mind

It’s not going to be pretty, but Mamdani is a true believer.

The new mayor might have considered moving slowly to transform a vibrant world-class financial center like New York into a molasses-slow backward city.  But no.

In his inaugural address, he made this statement:

“We’ll replace rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”

The idea that you can become a millionaire in America, or even a billionaire if you have big ideas like Steve Jobs at Apple or Elon Musk with all his various enterprises is the essence of capitalism.  Mamdani thinks government can do better by taxing those nasty billionaires and finding ways to redistribute their money.

Video:  Mamdani delivers his inaugural address after being sworn in by socialist Bernie Sanders.

Economist Steve Moore, in his Unleash Prosperity Hotline newsletter is quick to point out that it was a form of collectivism that led to soup kitchens during the Great Depression.  Could that sort of misery be coming to New York?  That will be interesting to watch.  There are a number of things that could happen if Mamdani’s plans are all implemented:

  • Government-run grocery stores will likely be dirty affairs with many empty shelves as people opt for more modern, competitive supermarkets.
  • Landlords who invest in rental property, and who have to maintain it and fix the pipes when they freeze, may not want to stay in the rental business.
  • Billionaires that fuel New York with corporations and real estate may want to escape to Texas or Florida to avoid Mamdani’s wealth redistribution plans.

If the billionaires flee, Mamdani will have no wealth to tap into in order to make his socialist scheme work.  He will soon run out of other people’s money.  The “warmth” of collectivism will start turning New York into a third-world city and people will try to get out.

RELATED: Taxing and Spending is What Democrats Do

Don’t expect Mamdani’s department heads to steer him away from the dangers of socialism.

As Moore’s newsletter points out, Mamdani has chosen Kamar Samuels to head up the city’s public school system.  Samuels is against gifted & talented programs, but is a big supporter of forced racial diversity.  As you might expect, the leftist that created the 1619 project is happy with the appointment.  Per Moore’s newsletter:

Ominously, one of his biggest fans is Nikole Hannah-Jones, The New York Times journalist who created the infamous 1619 Project, which incorrectly claims that slavery represents the very essence of America’s history.  She praised the appointment of Samuels as “outstanding news for those who still care about school integration and equality.”

Another interesting choice is Julie Su as Deputy mayor for economic justice.  This short bio is from the City and State New York website.

Mamdani created a new deputy mayor role with a portfolio that includes the Taxi and Limousine Commission, the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, the Commission on Human Rights, the Department of Small Business Services and several other agencies. Julie Su was formerly acting secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor under the Biden administration. She was never confirmed by the Senate despite two nomination attempts, but received praise from Mamdani supporter and socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, who called her an “outstanding leader of the Labor Department.” Su is brand new to New York, and has moved to Queens for the position. Su’s appointment was announced on Dec. 19, 2025.

You can check out other appointment at that same website.  You’ll find some old, some young, some from the Biden administration, some that worked under former Mayor Bill de Blasio, and some members of the Democratic Socialist of America.

And what about globalizing the Intifada?

The term is Arabic for “uprising,” and usually having to do with attacking Israel.  This is from Wikipedia.

In the 20th century, the word intifada has been used to describe various uprisings. In the Iraqi Intifada of 1952, Iraqi parties took to the streets to protest their monarchy. Other later examples include the Western Sahara’s Zemla Intifada, the First Sahrawi Intifada, and the Second Sahrawi Intifada. In the context of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, it refers to an uprising by Palestinian people against Israeli occupation or Israel, involving both violent and nonviolent methods of resistance, including the First Intifada (1987–1993) and the Second Intifada (2000–2005).

This is what Mamdani apparently wants to globalize.  We saw what globalizing the Intifada looks like on October 7th when Hamas conducted a sneak attack on a music festival in Israel and killed hundreds of Israelis.  We saw it on college campuses in the United States.  We saw it on Bondi Beach outside of Sydney.  This is what Mayor Mamdani appears to want to expand globally.

The late and much-missed Rush Limbaugh once caused a furor when, considering the left-wing ideas that Barack Obama brought to the Oval Office, he exclaimed that he hoped Obama failed.  Rush was right.  It was not unpatriotic to wish for the failure of ignorant ideas that would make our country worse off.  In that same spirit, the ideas espoused by Mayor Zohran Mamdani are as ignorant as ignorant can be.  I hope he fails, because that’s the only way New York can succeed.

Hakeem Jeffries (a face of Democrat spending) 2021 official portrait (Pubic Domain)

The party brands were in full display during the 43-day government shutdown.  The dispute was over spending, naturally, and the Democrats wanted to keep doing it.

Note that the subsidies were intended to get us through the pandemic, and were always expected to expire.  But in a bait-and-switch, the Democrats insisted on extending them or making them permanent.   The cost of doing that, over ten years is estimated at $383 billion, and we all know how estimates work out.

Besides that, the continued infusion of taxpayer money into the insurance industry is a guarantee that costs will continue to go up.

The Republicans simply understood that we ought to be cutting expenses and not piling them on.  With less government money, the cost of healthcare will be forced downward.

AUDIO:  Random Samplings of a Logical Mind

Extending the subsidies would have been a major victory for the insurance industry.

One can only imagine the lobbying that’s been going on, and how much money the insurance lobby might have spent to buy a few votes.  It was close, but the calmer heads prevailed.  Now, think about this:  In my personal situation, I have my insurance set except for Part D, which is the pharmaceuticals.  For 2025, I paid $537.60 for my plan, and I didn’t use any prescriptions.    Whatever the reason for that, my $537.60 was pure profit for Aetna. (I eat a lot of broccoli and raw microwaved spinach.)

For 2026, if I stay with that plan, the cost will double, and at this point I still have no prescriptions to pay for.  That means Aetna would clear more than $1,000 in pure profit from me.  And I can’t simply refuse to buy a prescription plan because I would be charged an extra 10 percent for life if I ever tried to buy a plan at some future time.

Other people, especially young adults who are generally healthy, may have seen a similar effect.  They may have used way less of the insurance coverage than they paid for, again enriching the insurance companies.  That’s what the Obamacare mandates were supposed to do – bring healthy people in to pay for the less healthy, usually older folks.

RELATED: The National Debt Crisis Should be the Top Issue in our Elections

Note that the insurance companies have the money to hire celebrity spokesmen like Coach Nick Saban, and to animate geckos, ducks, pigs, emus, and such to create elaborately produced TV commercials.  Insurance is a boring product, and they do this to make it interesting and to stand out.  It works, apparently.

Then, there’s the fact that Democrats are always ready to tax and spend.

It’s their brand.  It’s what they do.  Their main existential crisis is Climate Change, which is essentially a license to tax, spend, and redistribute money.  Climate Change has always been the best permanent reason to spend copious amounts of money for virtually no ROI, and the COVID-19 pandemic was the temporary excuse.

The Republicans’ favorite existential crisis is the $38,000,000,000,000 National Debt, which provides no opportunities for spending more; it calls for spending less, which is not how you get reelected.  And it’s not as much fun as handing free stuff out like Zohran Mamdani wants to do.

Yep, the Obamacare mess is a form of socialism.  It was named officially the “Affordable Care Act.”  Laugh out loud all you want.  Democrats love names like that.  Another unintentionally hilarious name for a bill is the “Inflation Reduction Act.”  Perhaps the Democrats think you won’t notice how that turned out.

Video:  Hakeem Jeffries tells CBS News that “the money existed” for the subsidies, but does it?

The mess we’re in with high consumer prices is because of Biden-era spending.

When government uses a crisis – such as the pandemic – to flood billions or trillions into the economy as stimulus, all that money devalues the dollars in your bank account.  So, prices go up across the board and they rarely go down.  Consumer have to wait years for salaries to catch up, and Congress keep spending in the meantime.

RELATED: Which Existential Crisis Will Destroy America?

Let’s turn to Google AI for a quick list of what Congress spent during the four years that Joe Biden and his autopen were in power.

  • American Rescue Plan Act of 2021: This was a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package designed to provide broad relief from the COVID-19 pandemic. Its provisions included $1,400 stimulus checks for individuals, an expansion of unemployment benefits, an expanded child tax credit, assistance for renters and homeowners, and funding for vaccine distribution, schools, and state and local governments.
  • Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act): Signed in November 2021, this legislation is a once-in-a-generation investment of more than $1 trillion into the nation’s “hard” infrastructure, with approximately $550 billion in new federal investments. Key areas of spending include roads and bridges, public transit and rail, airports and ports, the electric grid, and clean drinking water and high-speed internet infrastructure.
  • CHIPS and Science Act of 2022: Signed in August 2022, this act is valued at roughly $280 billion to strengthen American manufacturing and technology capabilities. It includes over $50 billion in grants and tax credits to incentivize domestic semiconductor (computer chip) manufacturing, as well as funding for scientific research and workforce development.
  • Inflation Reduction Act of 2022: Passed using the reconciliation process, this legislation represents the largest-ever investment in clean energy and climate action. It directs hundreds of billions toward climate and energy programs through tax credits and incentives, extends Affordable Care Act subsidies, and allows Medicare to negotiate some prescription drug prices. It also aims to reduce the deficit through a 15% corporate minimum tax and enhanced IRS enforcement.

All this spending was just fine for somebody, but as a whole, it gave us Bidenflation.  We’re still in it.  Consider this:  In Trump’s first term, we had virtually no inflation.  In Biden’s term, we had massive inflation.  In Trump’s second term, we have some inflation but not as much as Biden had.

How do we get back to virtually no inflation?

Republicans have to stop the Democrats from spending.  They will not stop on their own.  Lots of Republicans bloviate about the National Debt, but you almost never hear a Democrat mention it.  They seem to think it’s not a problem.  In New York, we’re about to see that point-of-view be put to a massive test.  In reality, free stuff really costs a lot, and with no profit motive, it usually is not of high quality.  That’s called socialism.

RELATED: Who are the Democratic Socialists of America?

The Democrats, though, are good at using emotion rather than facts.  Their argument on extending the Obamacare subsidies or making them permanent was that people are going to be priced out of health insurance.  They’re right about that, and the argument may resonate.  But Obamacare, which was supposed to make health insurance affordable, did quite the opposite.

If the Democrats had won the shutdown battle and extended the subsidies, healthcare costs and insurance for it would have shot up again.  Just like tuition when the government took over student loans.  More government infusion of money, and you’ll get higher prices.  It never fails.

But that’s a rational, fact-based argument, and the Democrats will usually stick with emotion, and blame people who are successful.  Republicans ought to come up with a plan for healthcare that involves far less government.  That’s a tall order, and it will take both parties to actually accomplish anything.  That’s why we probably never will.

National Debt Clock as of November 8, 2025 (Photo by Lynn Woolley for WB Daily)

America has a lot of problems and some are genuine crises.

Weirdly, some of these are vastly more important to the political Left than to the Right, and vice versa.  The Left thinks the presidency of Donald Trump is a crisis.  But that hasn’t quite taken the place of Climate Change, which is now a more subtle religion for most progressives.

On the other side of the aisle, and mostly ignored by the Left, is the breakdown of the traditional family, the failure of our educational system, and the loss of a well-defined American identity.

The Right also worries about the threat of radical Islam and socialism and Communism with the election of Zohran Mamdani in New York, as well as the China threat, and the National Debt.

Perhaps artificial Intelligence can help us solve these crises – except that AI itself is also on the list.

AUDIO:  Random Samplings of a Logical Mind

Crises change from generation to generation.

Back in the days of J. Robert Oppenheimer, virtually everyone on the planet lost sleep over the threat of Mutual Assured Destruction from nuclear weapons.  That threat is vastly more real today than then, but nobody worries much about it.  It seems too horrible for even Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping to contemplate.

RELATED:  Problems We Can’t Solve

Besides, if you’re a political junkie, it’s more fun to see where we go with crises that mirror the ideology of progressives or conservatives.  I chose seven crises that come to mind, and set them up in what I consider to be reverse order.  That means we’ll end with number one, which to me, is what poses the most danger.

Crisis #7:  Climate Change

Ho-hum.  Not many people seem to care much about this crisis anymore since Trump won a second term.  There’re diehards out there; in fact, Austin Mayor Kirk Watson recently attended a climate conference in Rio de Janeiro.  He came back to town and issued a release on it with all the old talking points that have never come to pass.

Even one of the world’s richest men, Microsoft’s Bill Gates, has shifted his position on this issue from one of a “doomsday scenario” to a more pragmatic one of “human welfare.”  In short, this is a crisis – if it is one at all – that we can’t do much about.  Let’s focus on clean water and clean air and move on.  Earth will be fine.

Video:  Bill Gates warns about Climate Change alarmism

Crisis #6:  The presidency of Donald Trump

This one is good for a few laughs, especially if you thought the presidency of Joe Biden was a crisis.

What did Biden do?  He immediately opened up the southern border and let millions of illegals cross over including drug dealers, cartel members, pushers of fentanyl, rapists, murderers, and human traffickers.  He also overlooked the Constitution when he wanted to, such as when he tried to forgive student loan debt.  He was known as the “Big Guy” in his family business of selling influence.  Under his watch, government spending went crazy resulting in the high consumer costs we have today.

What did Trump do?  He secured the southern border, tapped down the most insane parts of the liberal agenda such as sex-change and men playing in women’s sports.  You may not like his tariffs, but his accomplishment in the first year of the second term are stunning.  Joe Biden never came close to a peace deal in the Middle East.  He never had the guts to take out Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Trump’s methods are unconventional, but if there was a “crisis” presidency in the last decade, it was that of Joe Biden.

Crisis #5:  The threats of Communist China and Radical Islam

This one is very real.  The Red Chinese have a 100-year plan to take over the world.  They’re patient.  They want to invade Taiwan, and maybe they will – and then what?  The Democrats carp about “Russian interference,” but China is likely a bigger problem along those lines, with tentacles into our social media and our educational system and possibly even into the halls of Congress.

Video:  Biden says Chinese spy balloon was not a security breach

China sent a high-altitude balloon flying over the United States in January 2023 that carried intelligence-gathering equipment.  President Biden said it was no big deal.

RELATED:  Who are the Democratic Socialists of America?

Meanwhile, in New York, get ready for the United States’ first radical Islamic mayor.  New York joins London as a world-class city with an Islamic mayor.  Remember, New York was the main city attacked by Islamic terrorists on 9-11.  How quickly the voters forgot about that.  Russia is a minor player compared to these two threats, both of which are quite existential.

Crisis #4:  Colleges, Universities, and Culture Rot

College campuses are where American culture goes to die.  President Trump has famously had feuds with Harvard and Columbia.  These and other campuses are springboards for the new, left-wing-approved racism of antisemitism.  Colleges are festering with progressive professors who hate America, and who hate our system of capitalism.  What we used to call “multi-culturalism,” and now call “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” is the new racist trope that America is split into the “oppressed” and the “oppressors.”

Students often graduate with huge student loan debt and with an indoctrination that America is a terrible country, born in the original sin of slavery.  We used to have something called the Melting Pot, out of which, came a blended culture that was born of the best aspects of many lands.  E Pluribus Unum is still on our coins, but we don’t really practice that anymore.

Our colleges and universities are badly broken, but who will fix them?

Crisis #3:  The Breakup of the Traditional Family

The traditional family consists of a mother (female), a father (male) as role models for children, and probably a dog or a cat.  Boys learn how to be men from their dads and what a woman is from their moms.  Girls have a mom as a role model but see their dads as a strong protector of house and home.  It worked that way for 10,000 years.

Now, we have areas in big cities such as Chicago where fathers are as rare as a complete sentence from Kamala Harris.  Lots of big cities are infested with gangs, and children get caught in the crossfire, and they die.  In an even somewhat-perfect world, little boys would have dads to take them to baseball games, teach them how to treat girls, and even help them with homework.  That seems so quaint now.

In today’s inner city hip-hop culture, the F-word is often what young kids learn first.  A family may consist of a single parent, almost always the woman, with several kids from different fathers and enabled by generous welfare programs.  Some families now consist of a woman and her wife or a man and his husband – all to the detriment of the traditional family.  Is this a crisis? — yes!  Is it solvable?  Probably not.  Not unless the country decides to make men financially responsible for the children they create, and to curb or end welfare programs that make all this depravity possible.

Yes, folks, government created this problem with welfare and the left-wing idea that the traditional family is obsolete.  This crisis is off the charts, mostly because Congress is too dysfunctional or too left-wing to take action.

Crisis #2:  Artificial Intelligence

Maybe AI will cure cancer and solve some of the other crises.  But first it’s going to plunge us into a dystopian hell where we may never know if a new artist is even a real person.  Already, there are singers from the fifties up on You Tube with some pretty cool tunes you may not remember.  That’s because the song, the image, and the music are all created by AI.  And companies like Amazon are invariably going to replace all the jobs they can with AI, likely causing a depression if it happens too fast for new jobs to be created.

RELATED:  Could Humans Become Obsolete (PODCAST)

Artificial Intelligence is that rare crisis that has many benefits, but that also comes with grave dangers.  AI could render virtually all desk jobs obsolete.  We already have driverless cars, and trucks and planes will be next.  Robot surgeons (guided by human doctors) have been performing operations for years and as they get better at it, will we need human surgeons?  AI has its good points and will make life very easy, especially for students who can use it to generate an essay in about 10 seconds.

But will it destroy our humanity?  Has it already started the process?  Should we stop it now before it begins to control everything?

Crisis #1:  The National Debt

This crisis trumps all the others because the United States is on the verge of not being able to pay its bills.  Imagine a government shutdown that is permanent.  That’s what will happen when government spending and borrowing gets so out of control that all the GDP goes to pay the interest.  We are now at $38,000,000,000,000 in debt.  Some members of Congress recognize this, but there aren’t enough of them to make a difference.

Virtually all the Democrats and a great deal of the Republicans are in a kick-the-can mode where they have to keep their constituents happy right now in order to get reelected – and to hell with future generations.  Most government shutdowns are about the Republicans trying to hold down spending and the Democrats wanting to do more of it and exert more government control over such things as student loans and healthcare.

Video:  The National Debt crisis explained, but it’s much worse now than when this was posted

There is a fiscal cliff coming where we won’t be able to kick the can.  At that point we become a third-world country.  Congress will wake up and see it coming, but the train will be speeding down the tracks and it will not be stoppable. It will be too late.  When the full faith and credit of the United States government means nothing, we will have no country.  What’s the tipping point?  We’re at $38 trillion in debt now.  Is it $50 trillion?  $100 trillion?  At the rate Congress spends, we may soon know.

Note that the next category of debt will move from “trillions” to “quadrillions” and that each number in the sequence is a thousand times larger than the one before it.

The worst part about these crises is that all of them exist at the same time.

Maybe a dysfunctional Congress could fix one of these threats.  Maybe two.  But I doubt it.  The two parties hate each other and will not work together to solve anything.  Which crisis will eventually destroy us?  My guess is the National Debt will weaken us and China will make its move.  On the other hand, by that time, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Austin may have radical Islamic mayors.  Or maybe AI will recognize these threats and save us from them.  If that’s our best hope, we’re in trouble.

RELATED: We could have a functioning immigration system if we had a functioning Congress

The optimist in me says that maybe – just maybe – we’ll have better politicians in the pipeline some day that will see these issues and move to fix them.  It’s a faint hope, but the United States of America is the best country that’s ever existed and its time isn’t up just yet.

When the Pandemic hit, Democrats were not about to let a crisis go to waste.  We were told to wear masks and shelter in place, and non-essential businesses had to shut down.  The government decided that Walmart was essential, but lots of small businesses had to close.

That meant the economy needed a stimulus, and so we spent and spent and spent.

Right now, Democrats are fighting to keep Biden-era spending levels intact.  That includes the supersized Obamacare add-ons.  You’ll remember that President Obama federalized student loans, and the cost of college tuition skyrocketed.  It works that way with heathcare, too.

This is what the real fight is about:  whether the government ought to be involved in these things at all.  And, whether government ought to take over healthcare.

AUDIO:  Random Samplings of a Logical Mind

We have a socialism problem in America right now.

The socialists – Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Greg Casar, Zohran Mamdani and such – are clamoring for a single payer system.  That would put the government in complete control of heathcare.

RELATED: Who are the Democratic Socialists of America?

Lots of people who might want to be doctors will not want to work for the government.  Costs would balloon, wait times would lengthen, and the medical industry would stagnate.   But that’s what the end game is in the fight to keep expanding Obamacare into Medicare for All.

Video:  Inside the Socialist/Communist mind – CNN’s town hall with Bernie Sanders and AOC.

Note that we are trillions of dollars away from having no money.

What I mean is, we would need to find about $37,900,000,000,000 to add to the Treasury just to be dead broke at $0.  That’s how much we owe.  It’s staggering.  The National Debt Clock never stops running and we never shut down any spending. When Elon Musk and DOGE tried to save a few pennies, the Left went crazy.  Yet, what Musk was able to claw back or eliminate from the budget was insignificant.

The cold equations.

The Democrats are using raw emotion to try to force Republicans into spending more money we don’t have – on top of subsidies that have already been added.  Per Veronique de Rugy, writing in the Los Angeles Times:

The Paragon Institute’s Brian Blase notes that in 2014, taxpayers covered 68 percent of Obamacare premiums.  By 2020, that figures had risen to 80 percent.  With Biden’s COVID-era credits, taxpayers now cover 93 percent of premiums.

Yet the Democrats scream that millions will be tossed off heathcare if we don’t make the Biden subsidies permanent.  They were meant for emergency spending; they were never meant to be permanent.  Unless Democrats lied to us the whole time.  Ronald Reagan told us:

The closest thing to eternal life on Earth is a government program.

We’re seeing this with Obamacare right now.  Even temporary spending must be permanent.

America is spending like we were at war.

Both parties are to blame.  The Democrats have no shame when it comes to bloated government.  Republicans at least gripe about it before they help pass the Democrats’ big spending bills.

The city of Austin, now mired in debt, is trying to figure out how to replace money from the American Rescue Plan, Biden’s big pandemic stimulus.  But it was supposed to be temporary.  What is it about “temporary” that Democrats don’t understand?

One thing that is not temporary is the National Debt Clock.  It keeps on ticking.  Government, especially when Democrats are in charge, expand government to ridiculous extremes with only a bit of whimpering from Republicans.  One of these days, members of Congress will try to kick the can down the road, but the can won’t move.  There will be no more borrowing possible, and therefore no money to fund the military or pay for Social Security.  That means all the revenue government has will go to paying interest on whatever the National Debt balloons to.

RELATED: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the Face of the Democratic Socialist Party

When that day comes, we will be mired in South American-style inflation.  A potato will be worth more than cash because you can’t eat cash.

Here’s a suggestion that might get us on the right track.

Abolish Obamacare.  Start getting the government out of healthcare.  Reform our insurance industry so that most of us that are healthy do not spend thousands of dollars per year on insurance we never use.

Video:  MUST WATCH!  Fox Business Channel and Steve Moore with an expose on the Affordable Care Act

A typical visit to the doctor should be paid for out-of-pocket like we used to do.  Insurance should be reserved for catastrophic events like severe injuries from a car wreck, or diseases like cancer.  Without government reimbursements, the cost of health care would go down – potentially way down.  We’d all have more money, and insurance companies would be far leaner.

RELATED: America’s Colleges and Universities Should Be Fully Investigated

Let’s get the government out of the college tuition business, too.  Let’s make colleges suffer the loss when one of their degrees fails to provide a job that can pay back the tuition.  Better yet, let’s DOGE colleges so that tuition can be drastically reduced.

If you see a pattern forming, you’re right.

Lynn Woolley interviewing Bernie Sanders on the U.S. Capitol grounds in Washington 9-29-21. (Photo by Julie Sullivan for WBDaily.)

The more government gets involved in a segment of society, the more expensive it becomes.  Yet, the Democrats, especially the socialists like Sanders, AOC, and Mamdani, want much more government.  Mamdani wants government-run grocery stores.  Can you imagine what a disaster that would be?

The profit motive is what puts the quality into the things we buy and the services we want.

These are the facts. This is what the fight over Obamacare subsidies is really all about.  It’s about taxpayers picking up the tab for other people’s health care, and causing the cost to skyrocket.  It happened with tuition and it’s happening with healthcare.

If the Democrats get their way, and you have three cows and your neighbor has just one cow…

As Joe Biden would say:  You know the thing!

It doesn’t seem so long ago that progressives seemed to have a stranglehold on America.  And to some extent, they still do.  They still have Hollywood, the music industry except for country, the educational system, and the media.  But the cracks in the left-wing dominance of the political scene are widening – and fast.

You might call it the “Charlie Kirk Effect.”

In life, Charlie was massively successful in pointing out the insanity of liberalism.  In death, he’s become an icon.  On campuses, where conservatives are typically shouted down, it’s now cool to be a conservative.

I’ve been one through thick and thin, even when it wasn’t popular.  It is now.  It’s even okay to go to church again.  That’s the legacy of Charlie Kirk.  Stodgy old professors can cling to their democratic-socialist ideology.  But their students probably aren’t going to.

AUDIO:  Random Samplings of a Logical Mind

Conservative optimism is in the air.

My radio partner, Jim Cardle, and I attended a three-day celebration of all things conservative in Arlington, Texas, and you could feel the optimism in the air. It was palpable.  Attendees were happy.

Only days prior, the founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, had been assassinated while engaging in civil debate on a college campus.  We all talked about him, and mourned his passing, and celebrated the grace of his widow, Erika.  We all knew that Charlie Kirk had made a difference, and that killing him was not going to stop his movement.

Program cover: 2025 Strategy Forum by Heritage

There were some big names in attendance at the event, sponsored by the Heritage Foundation. Sage Steele, late of ESPN, and host of the Sage Steele Show was on hand as was Will Cain of Fox News.  Jim and I had a chance to speak with Will about his Fox show that originates in Dallas and has a decidedly Texas flavor.

Both Sage and Will were convinced that the times are a-changing.  Kevin Roberts, the head of the Heritage Foundation, is absolutely certain that America is turning away from the lunacy of the Left and going back to the values that one made America great.

I feel blessed to actually know Dr. Kevin Roberts

At this conference, and in the many interviews that Jim Cardle and I have done with him, I’ve found little to nothing to disagree with.  He’s conservative to the bone.  And logical.  And logic is what makes conservatism work.

RELATED:  Assassinations in America

We suffered through 8 years of Barack Obama and four more of Joe Biden.  Enough is enough.

I’ve written many columns about the illogical and violent Left and what it stands for.  I’ve mentioned that Chuck Schumer is the leader of the Senate Democrats and how I can’t think of anything I agree with him on.  Democrats are consumed with illogical obsessions like race, skin color, abortion on demand, climate change, LGBTQ propaganda, and how evil America is.  The party has too many adherents that lean toward socialism or even Communism.

Video:  The timeless grace of Erika Kirk:  “I forgive him.”

How refreshing to see thousands, maybe millions, of people from students to older folks who can define what a woman is, and who believe in the sanctity of life, and want government to live within its means.  Those things make sense, and (trust me on this) embracing them provides an inner joy that you can’t get from liberalism.

Liberals are always pissed off about something, or hating someone, or shooting at someone.  It’s no wonder since their ideology makes no sense.

That’s why, even when conservatives seemed down and out in the Obama years, I never wavered.  Conservatism is a way of life with me because it makes sense while liberalism creates misery.

Three of a kind.

Things do come in threes.  When I was a teenager, there were three men who were giants in the conservative movement:  Barry Goldwater, William F. Buckley, and Ronald Reagan.  In the dark days of the Cold War, we had three great leaders emerge:  Ronald Reagan (of course), British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and Pope John Paul II.

In modern times, we’ve had Rush Limbaugh who brought millions in to our movement.  Donald Trump, whether you like his style or not, introduced the MAGA movement to try to restore America to what its potential could be, after President Obama presided over America’s decline.

RELATED: Rise of the Churchoids

And there’s Charlie Kirk.  Charlie Kirk did what so many politicians blab about, but never get down in the trenches to do:  he went to the source of the left-wing ideology that is ruining the country, which is unbridled liberalism on college campuses.  If we’re going to cut off the head of the snake, that’s where we have to go, and that’s what Turning Point USA was about.

There were times I thought our movement was over.  But I could never embrace the lunacy of liberalism.

President Bill Clinton was a “third-way” guy, but Obama and Biden were not.  They were liberal to the core.  Obama could have fixed south Chicago, but he didn’t.  Biden was nominated to be a grandfather-type who could unite us.  He did anything but that.

Under Biden radical transgender ideology flourished with full Democratic party support.  Under these presidents, hatred for America flourished, egged on by the “1619 Project” and radical Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion indoctrination in schools.

Through it all, I stayed conservative for a reason.

America needs conservative ideology if it is to survive.  The Left is too consumed with race, gender ideology, open borders to create a government-dependent underclass – power, in general.  That’s not the way to run a country.

Our side – the Conservative Movement – believes that all Americans are Americans without a modifier.  We believe in the traditional family as the backbone of society.  We’re not known for trying to assassinate our political opponents.  We relish free speech and honest debate.  We revere life, in the womb and after birth.  We could not care less about the color of your skin.

We understand that printing money to enable massive government spending is unsustainable.  We want boys to be boys and girls to be girls as God intended.  And we think going to a faith-based, traditional church is good for your soul.

Hanging out with Kevin Roberts and a few hundred like-minded conservatives is a great way to recharge your batteries.

Yes, I was a conservative when conservatism wasn’t cool, but it is now.

Thanks to Charlie Kirk, it’s okay to be a conservative on a liberal college campus.  It’s even okay to be a conservative in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, New York, or Austin.  But you have to watch your back, because the other side doesn’t share your reverence for life.

RELATED:  Forget January 6th – Democrats are the Party of Violence

We all should have a bit of Charlie Kirk in us.

Don’t be afraid to take on the radical ideas of the Democratic Socialists that are ruining our big cities.  But do it like Charlie did.  Be happy, upbeat, and make them prove that you are wrong.  They can’t do that, because truth is on our side.

And remember, the country is changing and becoming more conservative.  That’s the side of history you want to be on.  Besides, thanks to Charlie, and Rush, and people like Kevin Roberts, being a conservative is really cool!

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) Official portrait. (Public Domain)

Senator Chuck Schumer is a leader in the Democratic Party.  I can’t think of a single issue I agree with him on.  It’s the same with the House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries.  Factor in the new socialist wave of the Democratic party, and not only do I disagree, but I think it’s important that their vision for America never happens.

What should we do to stop them?  Whatever it takes.

And that’s the current zeitgeist.  The Democrats hate President Trump.  Guess how I felt about President Biden.  Now we’re in a redistricting war.  The Democrats say that the Texas Republicans must be stopped to save “Our Democracy.”*

I thought about that, and then decided that the GOP ought to get as many seats in Congress as possible.  If we’re having a National Divorce, I want the keys to White House and a lock on Congress.

*Our Democracy:  literally, the nation as defined by the Democrats.  A democracy of the Democrats, by the Democrats, and for the Democrats.

Audio:  Random Samplings of a Logical Mind

There is one thing I agree with Chuck Schumer about, now that I think about it.

Schumer believes his side must go all out to defeat the other side.  I agree.  Democrats have eschewed common sense and logic to the point that nothing they want to do would make America a better or stronger country.

Video:  Schumer appearing to call for violence against Supreme Court justices.

As Joe Biden would say, you know the thing!  Democrats stand for taxing and spending, high deficits and an unlimited National Debt, open borders, multiculturalism, and transgender “women” who are really men competing in women’s sports.

And they hate Israel.  Boy, do they hate Israel.  But they seem to have a soft spot for criminal aliens and terrorists.  They’re obsessed with climate change but their dire predictions never come true.  I could go on.

RELATED:  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the Face of the Democratic Socialist Party

I can’t believe half the country falls for that, but look at election results, and especially watch what happens in big cities.  City councils will spend money on diversity, equity, and inclusion before they’ll fund the police.  They spend millions on the homeless, but always on housing them and rarely on treating or curing them.

I’m sorry, but they’re nuts!  [That’s a strong as I can get without using the F-word, which now is a big part of left-wing rhetoric.  The Republicans need a good cuss word to call their own, but the Dems have already claimed most of them.]

If you don’t think we’re headed for a National Divorce, take a look at the news.

Democrats in the Texas Legislature left town to protest gerrymandering and went to the left-wing, heavily-gerrymandered state of Illinois.  They’re nuts, remember.  Democrats from Chuck Schumer to California Governor Gavin Newsom declared war.   Unfortunately for them, most blue states are already gerrymandered so that Democrats get a bigger percentage of congressional districts than voting patterns would deem fair.  But it’s war and in war, everything is fair.

Video:  California Gov. Gavin Newsom at war with Republicans (fact check it, please)

Many of our big, blue cities are crime-ridden hellholes and drug dens.  When President Trump sent in the National Guard to clean up Washington, D.C., saying the national capital ought to be safe for people to visit, Democrats sued him.  No good deed goes unpunished, and certainly not in the middle of a divorce.

For decades, we’ve ignored our immigration laws.  But then Joe Biden opened the southern border and millions more flowed in along with human traffickers, South American gangs, and fentanyl.  This seemed perfectly normal to Democrats who like the idea that congressional seats are apportioned by the total number of people in a state, and not by total citizens.  What’s a few murders or missing kids, or hundreds of drug deaths to a Democrat if they can gain seats in states like California, Texas, and Florida?

RELATED: We could have a functioning immigration system if we had a functioning Congress

This made no sense to Donald Trump, who, in his second administration, decided to actually follow immigration law.  Note that Congress could easily – in about two hours – draft a logical guest worker program, but they won’t because we’re in the middle of a National Divorce.  And guest workers would not count for apportionment, and they don’t vote.

If Trump likes it, Democrats hate it.

It’s silly, but it’s true.  And it defines the two sides.  Trump supports Israel, so Democrats hate Israel, which is easy for them because they’ve always hated Israel.  Trump did not want to finance the War in Ukraine, therefore Democrats did.  Trump thinks it’s for men to play in women’s sports.  That very fact made it necessary for Ketanji Brown Jackson, when she was up for nomination to the Supreme Court, to claim that she couldn’t define what a woman is.

Video:  Is this as dumb as it gets?  Ketanji can’t define a word that she is.

Draw a line down the center of a piece of paper.

On the left side, list what Democrats stand for.  On the other side, list just the opposite and you’ll have the GOP point of view.  It’s beyond stupid.  John F. Kennedy, a Democrat, was elected president in 1960.  JFK was a war hero and a Communist fighter.  He screwed up the Bay of Pigs, but he stood down Nikita Khrushchev in the Cuban Missile Crisis.  To stimulate the economy, he cut taxes.  He wanted to put Americans on the moon.

RELATED: Who are the Democratic Socialists of America?

Today’s Democrats want open borders, cancel culture, hundreds of languages in our schools, and government-owned grocery stores.  Make America Great Again to them means free stuff, higher deficits, controlling the weather, and public everything.  America would rot if that were to happen.

Video:  Joe Biden’s “red” speech in Philadelphia.  Perhaps his lowest point.

So!  If we want out of this marriage, who gets what?

The Democrats own the schools, so they already have custody of our children.  That could change under a plan that is the best I can think of.  We could, you know, draw a north-south line and make the North progressive and the South conservative.  That sounds a lot like the War Between the States, so never mind.  Here’s a better plan:

The people of the states ought to decide.

Texas, for example, could vote to be red or blue – it would choose red – and that would mean that schoolrooms will post the Ten Commandments and there will be no argument about it.  Over in lala land (California) they can abolish Bibles if they want to.  They can banish God and the Reagan Library, and anything that stands for conservatism.

California would be a declared Blue State just as Texas and Florida would be declared Red States.  If you come to Texas, you will get right-wing governance.  But if you go to California, you will be governed by loons.   Voters in all 50 states get to decide, and they can change their collective mind every ten years – you know – during redistricting.   <cough>

That leaves the problem of how to run the Federal Government.

Such things as foreign relations, minting our money (if we still are going to do that), and immigration are issues that the states can’t decide.  We’d have to have joint custody, and so the political wars would continue, but not nearly as much.

The other solution is all-out war for control of “Our Democracy.”  Is a divorce worse than being forced to live with someone you can’t agree with?  At some point, we may have to decide, because that’s where we are right now.

What I need to know is what Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries want to do about it.  Because whatever they want to do, I will be for the exact opposite.

New York Assembly member Zohran Mamdani (Fair Use)

Essentially, the Democratic Socialists of America or DSA is an organized movement determined to tear down the American Capitalist system.

Like Marxism, it is a worker’s movement that doesn’t believe that making a profit should be the goal of business.  Rather, it believes the workers should be running businesses and the entire country.  The face of the movement is U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont whose latest failed presidential campaign helped swell the ranks of the DSA from about 6,000 members to 90,000.

What do they stand for other than shared misery?

They would kill the Electoral College and the Senate filibuster.  They support government healthcare for all – essentially all the things Karl Marx stood for.  The DSA is a big movement on college campuses, and in Congress where it’s known as The Squad.

AUDIO:  Random Samplings of a Logical Mind

The DSA has a new face:  Zohran Mamdani, and he is likely the next mayor of New York City.

From all indications, Mamdani is a true believer.  He has supported pretty much all of what the national DSA movement stands for, including defunding of the police.  After the shooting in late July at a New York skyscraper that housed offices of the National Football League, Mamdani attempted to break away from past comments—but without much success.

Video: ‘Disgusting and disqualifying’: Zohran Mamdani blasted for vow to defund police

If he’s elected mayor of New York, Mamdani will likely replace Bernie Sanders as the unofficial leader of the DSA.  His views, per Wikipedia, are quite extreme:

His campaign platform includes support for fare-free city buses; public child care; city-owned grocery stores; a rent freeze on rent-stabilized units; additional affordable housing units; comprehensive public safety reform; and a $30 minimum wage by 2030. Mamdani also supports tax increases on corporations and those earning above $1 million annually.

His idea for city-owned grocery stores has attracted a lot of attention, but mostly for its ignorance.  Imagine your local bustling H-E-B or Safeway, and then conjure up a mental picture of what a grocery store might look like as run by government workers and without competition.  And of course, Mamdani despises Israel; that’s a given for DSA members.

Mamdani is not alone in the world of politics.

There’s lot of little Bernies and Mamdanis around the country.  Most big cities have to deal with it, especially if they are home to a large college campus.  The antisemitic movement on Ivy League campuses like Columbia are driven by the DSA.  To his credit, President Donald Trump has fought with Columbia and Harvard to try to end DSA-inspired racism.

Then, there’s the Squad, with Austin providing one of the newer faces on the far-left caucus.

His name is Greg Casar, another true believer who served on the Austin City Council and seemed to have a lot of political sway there.  He ran for Congress in an extremely left-wing district and quickly became the Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Casar’s socialist credentials are quite impressive; he can stand with members like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar and be right at home.

Speaking of the Austin City Council, a 10-1 affair with a Mayor (Kirk Watson) and ten single-member districts each with a far-left councilperson, the DSA is well represented.

Homelessness, climate change, and equity are right up there with city services such as police, fire, and EMS.  During open-mic session, it often seems like all the people who sign up to speak are DSA members.

Like a lot of left-wing cities, Austin spends a buttload of money on left-wing causes like equity, and has a multi-million-dollar budget deficit.

What if Bernie Sanders had gotten elected President?  What if Mamdani or Casar ever does?

I imagine that the left-wing elites in Washington, D.C. would do fine.  But you and I would be putting our money (if we’re allowed to have any) in government banks that are shaky as hell, and buying rotten bananas from one of Mamdani’s government-owned grocery stores.

Here’s more of what the DSA believes, taken from its own website

First, here’s their statement of who they are:

The Democratic Socialists of America is the largest socialist organization in the United States because we’re a member-driven mass organization. We believe that working people should run both the economy and civil society, and we show our commitment to this principle by being an organization of, by, and for the working class.

Here’s what they think of the American Capitalist system:

Capitalism pits us against each other and workplaces are fundamentally authoritarian unless workers can self-organize and build collective power. This is why people build unions, and why employers undermine them. It is also why the capitalists as a class constantly promote narratives about unions that frame them as unnecessary, undemocratic, or ineffective. We know better, and we’re building worker power in every region of the country.

Their big priority is changing the weather:

The climate crisis is an emergency. The world’s top scientists are saying we have little time to get off fossil fuels. Meanwhile, inequality is already out of control — and rising. We fight for a Green New Deal because it’s the only plan that meets the scale of the crisis, one that puts people and planet over profit to build a more just and sustainable economy. We’re organizing in our workplaces, communities and schools to build the working class movement it will take to win.

As stated, they hate Israel as in this response to the Iron Dome vote:

Yesterday, the US Congress once again increased spending on war instead of the services and protections that working people desperately need. In a vote of 221 to 209, Congress approved H.R.4016, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, sending a staggering $831.5 billion to the Pentagon. This money will be used to fund militarism abroad…

They were, of course, elated with Mamdani’s win in New York:

In New York City, socialism has won. Time and again, the capitalist class have told working class New Yorkers that providing the basic necessities of affordable housing, efficient transit, and universal child care are not possible, and they should be grateful for the crumbs they do provide.

They are proud socialists.  They do not hide what they are.

And yet, the misery that comes with socialist countries is rarely brought up by the sanest member of the Austin City Council, Mayor Kirk Watson.  The mayor is a political veteran.  He is a creature of the Left, but he’s not an out-and-out socialist.  He knows better, and he ran on a platform of affordability – but yet the council spends like drunken Congressmen.  With no conservative on the Council, it’s up to him to call out extremism.  I think he knows that.

He’s probably aware that a lot of Austin’s problems stem from the years that Greg Casar was on the Council with a pliable mayor name Steve Adler.  Joe Biden was a senile and pliable president and the people around him spent crazy amounts of money, caused inflation to skyrocket, opened the southern border, and made climate change a priority.  Biden may not have been DSA, but a lot of what he did fell in line.

Socialism is shared misery.

New York may be about to find out.  Back when Rudolph Giuliani was Mayor, he cleaned up the crime and made the city livable.  The Left trashes him now, but for a while he was America’s Mayor.  Since his departure from that office, New York has regressed, and it will be far worse if Mamdani is elected.  People are already leaving New York and swelling the state of Florida where Capitalism is still king and the people are free to innovate and excel.

The Left that worships equity may get it with Mamdani.  The city will become miserable, because socialism is designed to create equity by bringing everyone down to the same level.  Capitalism provides incentive to grow and be the best you can be.  That’s not what the Left wants.

President Donald Trump is the ultimate capitalist.

Even as president, he sells watches and sneakers, and Bibles and what-have-you.  He loves his skyscrapers and his golf courses.  Joe Biden, on the other hand, never had a real job, but always lived off the taxpayers and (presumably) what Hunter forked over to the Big Guy while selling influence.  I think Trump’s merchandising is a bad look, but I’ll take it any day over a socialist.

When that nutcase stormed into a New York skyscraper and killed four people including a New York policeman, Mamdani likely world have sent a social worker to the scene.  The DSA has little use for police.  Or Israel.  Or making a profit.  Or someone working hard to be the best he or she can be.  Under Mamdani, Casar, or Bernie Sanders, we would all be equal like Harrison Bergeron in the Kurt Vonnegut story.

When everybody is made equal through government mandate, Mamdani and Casar may finally be happy.  Just so long as they’re not forced to be as miserably equal as the rest of us.
