Michigan’s “Safe, Drama-Free” Election Revisited

Recent developments out of Michigan are prompting another look at “then and now” as new details emerge regarding the Wolverine State’s 2020 election.

What was said then

In an interview with CNN’s John Berman, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer termed the 2020 election as “safe” and “pretty drama free.”

“We decide our differences at the polls and then we have a peaceful transfer of power, and it is the will of the people that decides the outcome of our elections,” she said.

“I give incredible credit to our secretary of state, Jocelyn Benson, and all the Michigan clerks and the 30,000 volunteers who worked this election all across the state,” Whitmer continued.

Despite Whitmer’s assurances, irregularities were identified yet efforts for further investigation were met with resistance.

One year after the Jan. 6 “fedsurrection” (h/t Darren Beattie, Revolver News), Benson used a Detroit Free Press op-ed to once again attest to the credibility of the 2020 election.

“The truth is Michigan’s 2020 election was the most secure and accessible in our state’s history. Republican, democratic and nonpartisan county, city and township clerks carried out more than 250 professional audits across the state, and every one of those nonpartisan audits, as well as numerous court cases across the state and nation and a report by the Republican-led State Senate Oversight Committee, affirmed the accuracy and integrity of the 2020 election.”

A June 2021 report issued by a GOP-controlled Michigan Senate committee found “no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud,” however it did identify “vulnerabilities” and “obstacles” to correct.

Rather than a substantive analysis seeking to discover the truth, election integrity advocates seemed to view this report as more political theatre seeking to distract from or discredit current challenges and shut down future efforts.

As a Texas resident, that seems a reasonable position as our state routinely experiences “Republican-controlled” legislative bodies best representing the interests of their Democrat counterparts.

So what’s up with the now?

The Gateway Pundit broke a story this week with this eye-catching headline: Massive 2020 Voter Fraud Uncovered in Michigan – Including Estimated “800,000 Ballot Applications Sent to Non-Qualified Voters” – Bags of Pre-Paid Gift Cards, Guns with Silencers, Burner Phones, and a Democrat-Funded Organization with Multiple Temporary Facilities in Several States .

From the article:

On October 8, 2020. only one month before the 2020 general election, Muskegon, MI City Clerk Ann Meisch noticed a black female (whose name was redacted from the police report), dropping off between 8,000-10,000 completed voter registration applications at the city clerk’s office.

Within weeks a joint investigation between the Muskegon Police Department and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office was underway.

Findings from a Michigan State Police report include:

On 10/16/20 Muskegon City Clerk Ann Meisch and Deputy Clerk Kimberly Young contacted the Muskegon Police Department after noticing irregularities in voter registration applications received both in person and by mail.

The Muskegon city clerk became suspicious when the female, (whose name is redacted in the first part of the police report, but then later, is unredacted), hand-delivered thousands of voter registrations to her office, many of them in the same handwriting.

On 10/20/20 (deadline day for in-person voter registration applications) the suspect retumed to the *Muskegon City Clerk’s office to deliver additional registration forms in person. Meisch estimated that (suspect) brought an additional 2500 forms. Meisch contacted the Muskegon Police Department and Detective Logan Anderson and Captain Shawn Bride conducted a non-custodial interview with the suspect.

The article describes Meisch observing the following irregularities:

  • The quantity of the voter registration forms was “highly suspicious and possibly fraudulent.”
  • Numerous forms appeared “to have been completed by the same writer and upon initial examination, addresses on multiple forms were invalid or non-existent.”
  • Phone numbers on multiple forms were “erroneous and signatures on multiple forms didn’t appear to match signatures on file with the Department of Secretary of State.”
  • Certain addresses did not exist within the Muskegon City house numbering system while one used address was that of the Muskegon High School, “clearly not a residence.”

GP further reports how investigators found this operation to be widespread not just across other Michigan cities, but also within other states. GBI Strategies is the company found to be directing this effort.

Massive 2020 Voter Fraud Uncovered in Michigan provides many other important details and undermines the four-year campaign to convince the American public that 2020 was a free and fair election.

These revelations are especially interesting as AG Nessel has now indicted 16 Republicans with felony election charges for submitting affidavits disputing the 2020 election outcome and declaring themselves as legitimate state electors.

Per Just the News:

The slate of would-be electors, Nessel contends, submitted false certificates claiming that then-President Donald Trump won the state and they were the legitimate electors, the Associated Press reported.

President Joe Biden won the battleground state, its electors, and ultimately the entire presidential contest, though Trump’s allies have contended that rampant voter fraud influenced the outcome of the contest and hold that the Republican, in fact, won.

These indictments were handed down in July.

In its article breaking the Michigan voter fraud case, Gateway Pundit says this of Nessel’s action:

MI Attorney General Dana Nessel, who is currently attempting to prosecute 15 senior citizens and the former MI GOP co-chair for casting an alternate set of electoral votes in the 2020 election, asked the MI State Police to join the Muskegon Police and AG’s investigation of the potentially massive, multi-city voter fraud operation.

Two members of AG Dana Nessel’s Criminal Investigation Division were assigned to the operation, yet curiously, she failed to mention the investigation to the public. To this day, Dana Nessel is still claiming there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud in Michigan, despite the fact that she knew her office and the office of her friend, Michigan’s crooked SOS Jocelyn Benson, were involved with the MI State Police in a large scale investigation that took place across the state before it was taken over by the FBI.

In response to GP’s reporting, Nessel has issued a statement acknowledging the Muskegon investigation, but positions it as an example of the system working:

Nessel’s press secretary, Danny Wimmer, said the total number of suspected fraudulent forms delivered to the Muskegon clerk by the individual was 8,000 to 10,000 ahead of the Nov. 3, 2020, presidential election.

However, Wimmer said, the “attempted fraud” was caught before Election Day because Michigan’s election system worked and the applicants were not added to the state’s voter rolls.

“The city clerk in Muskegon detected the fraudulent material provided and alerted the proper authorities,” Wimmer said in a statement. “A thorough investigation was conducted by multiple agencies within the state and no successful fraud was perpetrated upon the state’s election process or qualified voter file.”

With its continued reporting, the Gateway Pundit says more developments on this case will be forthcoming.

Whitmer may think 2020 was drama free, but if these recent revelations are honestly investigated and adjudicated as the American electorate deserves, the upcoming years could be anything but free of drama.
