For 21 years Jack Bowden is a familiar face on Baltimore, MD TV screens. In 1988, Jack exits his news anchor position on WMAR TV ABC CH 2 in a contract dispute. In December 1989 Bowden joins Hearst News Talk WBAL-1090 to host an afternoon news journal program. Richard Sher, WJZ TV newscaster, brags: He had class and he was a gentleman. He was also a brilliant journalist. On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 Jack Bowden dies of leukemia at 82 in Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson.

How can we ever forget the sad face of Abe Vigoda as the doomed Mafia soldier in The Godfather? Many remember Abe as the over-the-hill detective Phil Fish in 1970s TV series Barney Miller. On May 16, 2012 Abe Vigoda attends the Friars Club Roast of another beloved senior citizen actress Betty White in New York City. On ‎Tuesday, ‎January ‎26, ‎2016 actor Abe Vigoda dies in his sleep at 94. At the time, Abe stays at daughter Carol Vigoda Fuchs’ home in Woodland Park, NJ.

JOHNNY GOES DARK ON WCAO For 10 years Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak owns WTTR-1470 with a license to Westminster MD. In 2013, Hilltop Communications buys WTTR-1470. For the past two years, Jeff Laird is WTTR-1470 GM. He played Country music before finding Jazz at WNOP-740. He loved Miles Davis, Oscar, Dizzy, Buddy Rich, Jazz Quartet, Pete Fountain, Dexter Smith, Coltrain, Lionel Hampton, his wife said in his “obit-announcement”. Ray was proud to be a radio announcer as the way he made his living. I thought that was a great statement. He was old school. Later in my career I worked with an Engineer who worked with Ray at WNOP. And said – he even in his late 60s walked up this steep hill to take antenna readings. I went to high school with Ray’s son.

BOB GRANT [Robert Hanger] (San Angelo-Abilene, TX) Subject: Texas Legend Curtis Potter Has Passed Away. From: Tracy Pitcox Texas Country Music Entertainer Curtis Potter has died. Potter passed away surrounded by his family at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas on Saturday night, after a short illness. He was 75. “Curtis had been battling congestive heart failure and pneumonia during the last week,” Heart of Texas Records president Tracy Pitcox said. “Before becoming ill, he was actively performing, booking dates and getting ready to return to the recording studio.” At the age of 16, Potter was given his own radio television show on KRBC in Abilene and was part of the Bill Fox and Slim Willet shows. In 1959, Potter joined the Hank Thompson organization. Thompson was impressed with the young vocalist and invited him to front the Brazos Valley Band and play bass guitar for him. In the thirteen years that Potter was with Hank, he traveled all over the United States, Europe, the Far East and even a much sought after Carnegie Hall appearance.
