Democrats are the strangest people.

Assemblyman Rob Bonta D-San Francisco Bay Area

In Washington they are all about hating Russia and its communist government for allegedly colluding with the Trump campaign. But in California, communism is suddenly back in favor.

The State Assembly has passed a bill and sent it on the Senate that would eliminate part of a law that makes being a communist a firing offense in state government.

The bill is the brainchild of Democratic Assemblyman Rob Bonta.

Democrats’ natural proclivity is to embrace communism.  Remember that Independent Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders honeymooned in Russia.

Remember, that President Obama promised then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to be more “flexible” on issues like missile defense after the election.

So if California passes this bill, it is simply Democrats being Democrats and supporting communism.

California Republicans – yes there are some—fight back.

Assemblyman Randy Vogel, who fought in Vietnam, reminded the Dems that communists in North Korea and China are still a threat. (Not to mention those in Russia.)

Assemblyman Travis Allen said:

“This bill is blatantly offense to all Californians. Communism stands for everything the United States stands against.”

The two Republicans in the State Assembly are right. Russia under Vladimir Putin is America’s Number One geopolitical adversary. But, beyond that, communism is a cancer on the earth.

How soon we forget.

Ann Coulter’s best book by far is “Treason,” the story of communist infiltration in our government and the fight of former communist Whittaker Chambers to get the truth out. In promotions for the book, Coulter said:

“Liberals have a preternatural gift for always striking a position on the side of treason. Everyone says liberals love America, too. No, they don’t.”

Coulter says the Left has been wrong in all their political analyses and polices regarding communism.

She says Senator Joseph McCarthy was basically right about Soviet agents working for the U.S. government. She notes that (liberal darling) Alger Hiss turned out to be a high-ranking Soviet spy.

And she says that Ronald Reagan, who was ridiculed throughout his presidency, actually won the Cold War.

The Los Angeles Times chronicles the execution of the Rosenbergs

A little bit of history goes a long way.

How many high school students know that Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed for being communist spies?

How many know that Whittaker Chambers broke with the Communist Party in 1938 in what turned out to be a seminal event in American history?

Chambers had come to realize the evil of communism and he dared to declare – under fear of being murdered – that the communist government in the Soviet Union was a fascist government.

How many are taught about the “Pumpkin Papers” – evidence in a hollowed out pumpkin used against Hiss by Chambers?

And now we come full circle.

McCarthy had a point for sure, but he has gone down in history as the ultimate villain.

In more modern times, liberal college professors work to convince their students that Reagan had little to do with winning the Cold War.

In short, they defend communism at every turn.

“The Affordable Care Act” was their best shot at implementing the type of socialism that a communist might embrace – even though it is collapsing just as Soviet communism/socialism did.

Washington Democrats need a boogeyman to explain the defeat of the anointed Hillary Clinton – and the communist government in Russia emerged as the only real candidate for that.

So consider the left-wing rift with communism a useful diversion. The left will soon fall in love with communists once again.

It’s already started in California.
