In the year 2016, we lose many whom we look up to and admire. Not enough space for all of the names. We lose Bob Allen, Guy Clark, Dr. Denton Cooley, Skipper Lee Frazier, Jim Pruett, Dan Haggerty, Abe Vigota, George Kennedy, Morley Safer, Alan Young, Gloria DeHaven, Gene Wilder, Hugh O’Brian, Bobby Vee, Robert Vaughn, Florence Henderson, Fritz Weaver, David Bowie, Alan Thicke, Grant Tinker, Zsa Zsa Gobor and Rick Parfitt. Those beloved in life remain forever in our hearts.

Historically, radio Christmas music ends at midnight on Christmas Day. Not so for Windy City’s AC/Hot AC WLIT FM (93.9 MYFM) which flips early to all-Christmas music on November 10, 2016. Traditionally, WLIT FM stops playing its Christmas music on the night of December 25th, and then shifts back to its normal AC/Hot AC playlist on December 26th. This year, WLIT FM extends its Christmas music for almost a week through New Year’s Eve. Merry Christmas!

BUD BUSCHARDT [WFAA TV CH 8 Director, KVIL FM, WFAA-570, ABC sat radio DJ] (Dallas, TX) Jim, You are right about printing books. In this day and time, I suspect that the book would have to be electronic if it did not have a bunch of pictures. Our book is filled with pictures and the publisher could never get the Kindle version to work. We had a thousand copies printed. I have about 6 boxes in my guest room closet, but I have no idea what is in the publisher’s warehouse. I’m afraid to ask. Writing one book is enough for me! Did you go to Elkins in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, or Chicago? I was at Elkins in Big D in 1963 studying for a first phone which I only used once in radio and that was to do the automated KVIL in its earliest Chapman days. Jack Schell needed someone with a first phone to work weekends. Groovy Joe Poovey was in my class. I hope we can get together again soon and trade stories! Bud

TRIVIA ANSWER: On December 22, 1962, The Tornados is the first British group to have a #1 single record in the U.S. with their instrumental Telstar.

CHARLES GEORGE [KC5RAI – ex KCHU FM] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Charley Pride. I think my favorite song by him is Mountain Of Love. However, I first heard it done by Johnny Rivers. Another I liked was Anybody Going To San Antonio. It is irritating to me when a person says, “We can’t do that!” When it is they won’t. The larger the bureau the more paperwork. I know I will get Health Insurance, been with CIGNA since 2014, but looking to find a new Company. Unfortunately, many do not have needed Health Insurance. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Charles, KC5RAI

CHARLEY PRIDE (March 18, 1938 – p) Fans are what make a performer and I’ve always taken them seriously.
