TV CREW RESCUES PUPPY ON ICE

On Thursday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer spots a black puppy out on an ice covered lake. The Coast Guard gives up trying to rescue the black Labrador puppy, Kimberly, who is stranded on frozen Lake Erie because the ice is too brittle. WKYC TV NBC CH 3 Cleveland, OH comes to Kimberly’s aid when they ask airboat captain Tony Muscioni to go out on the ice and rescue the stray doggie. Photojournalist George Payamgis, while still filming, grabs Kimberly by the collar and brings her safely onto the boat.

Tribune KFOR TV NBC CH 4 Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan along with Chopper 4 pilot Bob Moore describes a gustnado in Moore, OK during Wednesday’s storm that strikes near Oklahoma City. He sees electrical flashes from high winds that toss objects and causes electrical explosions. That is a tornado, folks. That’s a tornado, right there. The storm destroys homes, flips semis on their sides, tears the roof off an elementary school, plus the winds rip KOKC’s radio towers.

KCKL FM alleges that KFWR FM’s side-mount antenna causes KFWR FM to send more than double its licensed power in certain directions. The FCC gives KFWR FM until April 22, 2015 to show why its antenna should not be defined as directional.

FRANK HALEY [KDAZ-730 newsman – ex KLIF-1190, KOB-770, KILT, KTRH & KVIL news] (Albuquerque, NM) If you grew up listening to the legendary KOMA radio in Oklahoma City, it will interest you to know that the most recent tornado in OKC has knocked down two of the broadcast towers of that station, now with the call letters KOKC, and snapped a third tower in half, knocking the station off the air at a critical time. 1 dead so far, several injured in Tulsa, and Moore, OK was also hit… Frank

Tonight’s storm 3/26/15 took down two of three and severely damaged the third tower due to possible straight line winds of over 90mph. Sad to see them go… Jay Walker

DON SUNDEEN [former KCOH-1430 OM/PD/DJ-Hi Records promotion-TV ad prod] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Bermuda Radio Archive Network. Jim, thought you’d find this radio ‘small world’ story interesting. Written by Jim Richards, morning man at ZBM 2, the station we tried to compete with in Bermuda in the early 60’s… ZBM 1 and 2 were based on the BBC model and staffed by announcers from Britain’s possessions, Canada, Australia, and other English speaking countries, all well paid and professional. They wouldn’t hire me because I was an American, even for a part-time gig, so I ended up on the native station, ZFB, the only non-Bermudian, and as the newly minted Canadian Donnie Dare. The story Jim tells is true and almost too coincidental. Bermuda Radio Archive Network.

TRIVIA ANSWER: In 1962, Decca records refuses to sign The Beatles to a recording contract. Decca’s reasoning: We don’t like their sound and guitar music is on the way out.
