JOHN FLETCHER [Fletcher Consulting] (DFW-Hurst, TX) Subject: God Bless the USA! Good Monday morning. How do we fully pay homage and express our emotional attachment to the Greatest Nation on Earth? I recall a moment during my radio career, when I served on the board of the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville and attended the conference several years. This one time several months after Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” had come out and had been #1, we were in the opening session of the Country Radio Seminar when a presenter reached a breaking point. Without a single pause, from behind us we heard the brass of a military marching band starting to play the intro to the song. It was spine-tingling as the sound moved from behind us to our side and then in front of us. They played a longer than normal intro and then, to our surprise… Lee Greenwood himself walked behind them singing the song. Talk About Emotion. Talk About Pride In Being An American! There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
