Mark Billingsley, longtime air personality on Country WGKX FM (105.9) nicknamed [Memphis Mark] is on Kix 106 for more than 20 years. WGKX FM Program Director Duane Shannon says that when Billingsley broadcasts at live events a crowd gathers around him. When Mark signs off he says: I’m headed to my little piece of America in Fayette County. On Tuesday afternoon, ‎December ‎22, ‎2015 after several weeks of illness, Mark Billingsley signs off for the last time at 53.

FIRE DAMAGES RADIO DUO’S HOME WZEW FM (92.1) Mobile, AL morning co-hosts Tim and Lee Ann Camp and family escape injury after a fire destroys their home. Lee Ann says that firefighters rescue their family doggie from the flames. Mobile Fire Rescue says there’s $35,000 damage mostly in the upstairs rooms where most of their clothes are located. St. Pius X Catholic School collects clothes for their daughter and son. WZEW FM co-workers collect cash and check donations at www.92zew.net/.

WILL BEAUTIFIL MUSIC RETURN TO ROCHESTER? In October 2014, Greg Jensen buys KNXR FM Rochester, MN for $1.1 million and flips it from Beautiful Music to Hot AC in February 2015. Next, Greg’s Hometown Broadcasting sells Hot AC KNXR (97.5 Pulse FM) to John Linder’s Blooming Prairie Farm Radio for $3.2 million. Linder registers multiple KNXR related domains: 975KNXR.com, 975KNXRFM.com, KNXR97-5.com, KNXR975.com, and KNXRFM.com. Will Linder bring back KNXR FM’s Beautiful Music format?

In fall 1965, just about everybody sings along to his record May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose. Nearly a year after Little Jimmy Dickens passes, Gruhn Guitars (2120 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN (615) 256-2033) has 18 guitars from his estate on sale. Gruhn’s list of Dickens’ guitars range in price from $1,500 to $20,000.
