You have to read between the lines to get at what Gowdy was saying. It came in an amazing exchange with Martha McCallum at the very end of a long interview on
“The Story” on FOX News Channel.

EXPLOSIVE: McCallum interviews Gowdy on “The Story” 5/16/17

My ears perked up when Gowdy, after explaining why he shouldn’t be the FBI nominee, seemed to give former Director James Comey a pass on his bizarre exoneration of Hillary Clinton on July 5th of last year.

Gowdy said history will be far kinder to Jim Comey than the Democrats.

McCallum had just asked if that news conference was enough to get Comey fired. Gowdy responded that there were more reasons — all classified — that Comey took the decision not to prosecute upon himself. McCallum asked if there were more entanglements with the Clintons inside the Justice Department. Gowdy said:

“You’re very perceptive.”

Video: The “meat” begins at the 5:20 point in this clip when McCallum asks Gowdy about the July 5th, 2016 Comey news conference and whether that should have been enough to get him fired.

What does all this mean?

The meat of this interview is not about Gowdy and whether he should be the next FBI director. It is about whether Bill and Hillary Clinton had established tentacles inside the Justice Department, essentially exerting some type of control.

Gowdy says he knows the content of this classified information – as does Comey – but that the American people may never know it. Gowdy said he might not agree with the outcome of Comey’s decision-making process, but that it was to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

He said there was no pressure on Comey to make the decision he did.

Rep. Trey Gowdy

He also stated that it goes beyond the “snakes on a plane” meeting in Phoenix between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and the husband of the target of the investigation, Bill Clinton.

What could be worse than “snakes on plane?”

That’s what we don’t know. Rep. Gowdy was trying to make a point, but the classified nature of the information prevented him from being blunt. By saying that it went beyond the airplane meeting in Phoenix that never should have happened, he implicated the Clintons.

It was so obvious that McCallum connected the dots as Gowdy was speaking. Now, we are left to wonder if Clinton operatives were at work inside the Justice Department to protect Hillary from legal exposure in the home-server scandal. Understanding that this is classified information, I have some questions.

1. Why is the information classified and can it be declassified? If the Clintons had corrupted the Justice Department, don’t the American people have a right to know?
2. Who inside Justice was working for the Clintons and how much power did they have? Did the corruption extend to the Attorney General herself?
3. What did President Obama know about this and when did he know it?
4. Is the issue too sensitive to be prosecuted? We know the IRS was politicized and there were no consequences – will history repeat itself with the Justice Department?
5. Why does Rep. Gowdy think history will be kind to James Comey in this case? How is that even possible?
6. Will Hillary Clinton ever face a prosecutor and a jury for the crimes she committed with the home server?
7. Why, knowing the answers to these questions, did Comey assume the role of prosecutor and announce that Hillary would not face Jeopardy? Was the “integrity” of the investigation more important than rule of law?

We may never know the answers to any of these questions.

Where the Clintons are involved there will be corruption, graft, large sums of illicit money, and sometimes death. But in the home-serve care, Trey Gowdy has let the cat out of the bag – or at least part of the cat. If the Clintons had indeed corrupted the Justice Department, I want to know more.

The American people deserve to know more.

    Hi Lynn,

The Trey Gowdy interview you played today did raise a lot of questions. This could be a possible explanation.

I thought it was good fortune that Comey ended the Hillary email scandal because if they had opened an investigation, Obama’s Justice Department would have “found” Hillary not guilty of anything. And that would have been the end of it.

Perhaps Gowdy was alluding to the same thing. He thinks Comey realized that an honest investigation was not possible at that time. So he deliberately ended any investigation from taking place by making himself a scapegoat, so that an honest investigation could take place in the future.

If so, wouldn’t that explain Gowdy’s remark about a more favorable Comey image?

    Al…
