The Obama years have been devastating to the American culture.

Under the current president, we have seen Americans of all kinds pitted against one another. Young against old. Black against white. Straight against gay. Even urban communities against police. President Obama has presided over the fictional War on Women. Americans seem to despise other Americans more than ever – the mark of a successful community organizer.

President Obama rushed to the microphone to disparage the Cambridge police – whom he said “acted stupidly,” and to say that if he had a son, he would look like Treyvon Martin. The President has been silent about body parts from aborted babies being sold by Planned Parenthood. The President evolved on gay marriage, and the courts have made such unions normal. Other presidents have brought change – but nothing like this.

What’s next for America?

A nation that has been torn apart by racial, ethic, and gender strife needs strong leadership. Imagine if a Hillary Clinton, even with all her baggage, serves for 8 years! What would happen to an already dying culture? What if the team of Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren were to make it to the White House for 12 years? Many Americans believe that years of continued Democratic Party embracing of decadence and perversion would doom the country.

Under any Democrat you can name, the social norms and traditions that Obama threw onto the junk heap of history — like traditional marriage and respect for life – would continue to deteriorate. With liberal schools and liberal media influencing the attitudes of the young—and the decay of the nuclear family, what could stop the culture rot?

Enter Donald Trump.

This is the reason for the Donald Trump phenomenon. Many people that have been silent because of weak Republican leadership are starting to notice what Trump is saying. More important, they are noticing HOW he is saying it. Yes, Trump is coarse. But he is speaking much truth (some things he says are not so true) and the people are responding.

Here’s the thing about Trump: Maybe he’d be different. Maybe he means what he says. Maybe he’d stop the invasion along our southern border. Maybe he’d run the country better. Maybe…maybe…

The translation of the Trump Effect is this: The promises of traditional politicians mean nothing. The establishment Republicans that got Thad Cochran reelected are useless to the stated values of the Party –and certainly are worthless to the goals of conservatism. They are all about the Status Quo. And the Status Quo isn’t good enough after years of Obama. Somebody has to fix the mess.

The electorate – at least those on the Right – are willing to take a chance with Trump.

They’ve tried Boehner, Ryan, McConnell and Cornyn. Many people have given up on the leadership and will try something else – anything else. Trump might be OK. Maybe not, they think, but what we have now is NOT OK.

What Democrats are.

Hillary Clinton went before the TV cameras recently to spout her disapproval of the Republican slate of candidates. Already, she had sworn her allegiance to Planned Parenthood. This time, she was ready to nail the Republicans for not standing up for a virtual wish list of liberal thought. Stuff like more childcare credits.

I saw two columns in newspapers that echoed what Hillary was saying and it made me realize the stark contrast between the two parties. Trump is tapping into this zeitgeist but the GOP establishment doesn’t seem to get it.

Let’s make it simple. Ask a Republican what the top 5 issues are and you might get this answer:

• Smaller government, lower taxes, and less regulation.
• Stopping illegal immigration.
• Rebuilding our military.
• Bringing back traditional values.
• Abolishing Obamacare.

But if you ask a liberal Democrat, you might get this:

• More mandatory paid sick leave.
• Raising the minimum wage.
• Raising taxes on the rich.
• More government provided childcare.
• Equality.

And that’s before we get to the big stuff like Climate Change and carbon taxes and the Keystone XL Pipeline, which some liberals seriously think would mark the end of the world if built. In other words, Democrats have tasted Big Government and they like it and they want more.

Now, look at Obama and where he stands.

Obama buys into all 5 of these Democrat Dreams and NONE of the 5 Republican goals. Cass Sunstein, now a Bloomberg writer and a former Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in the Obama administration is a far left liberal. He wrote a column to answer changes by Elizabeth Warren that the system is rigged against the little guy. But Sunstein says that under Obama, much “progress” has been made. Here’s his list of Obama-era accomplishments that he says proves that we are in a “reform” era:

• Obamacare (the Affordable Healthcare Act)
• Dodd-Frank Wall Street and banking regulations
• The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
• Obama’s big Stimulus
• The Credit Card Accountability and Disclosure Act of 2009
• The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act of 2009
• End of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”
• Aggressive new fuel economy standards
• New efficiency rules for refrigerators, dishwashers & washing machines
• Increase in taxes on the wealthy
• The 2001 Food Safety Law
• Measures to fight childhood obesity

It makes you wonder how we ever lived our lives without Obama. This is liberal micromanagement – and yet we still have porous borders to the south, banks that are Too Big To Fail, a large influx of Muslims who are not likely to assimilate, and stagnant wages. But government is bigger and liberals are happy.

Conservatives are NOT happy.

Obama has inflicted a great deal of this damage with Republicans running the House and Senate. The likes of Boehner and McConnell seem to be putty in Obama’s hands – as does the Supreme Court. The GOP leadership has allowed Obama to do incalculable damage while promising to stop it.

Is this the ticket for Democrats in 2016? Biden/Warren.

Is this the ticket for Democrats in 2016? Biden/Warren.

It is uncertain that anyone can undo the damage Obama has done to this nation.

Conservatives wonder if the abortion culture and the homosexual agenda are now unstoppable. Can America’s military decline and our diminished role on the world stage be turned around? Can we stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon? What happens with ISIS, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, North Korea, China, and the rest of the world? Under Obama, ALL these countries have been in turmoil. Can Vladimir Putin’s Russia be stopped? Obama watches the world on fire – and does nothing.

The damage is great.

He’s ruined foreign affairs. Marriage as we knew it is on life support. Our military institutions are now social experiments. Colleges and universities are very nearly 100% liberal in how they are run. Equality and Social Justice have replaced entrepreneurship and personal responsibility.

Government has its tentacles into every aspect of our lives.

Welfare is way up under Obama. Jobs with decent salaries are hard to come by. The only thing that prospers under Obama is government. He has nationalized healthcare, college tuition, and the internet.

Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush would not bring back the exceptional America that we enjoyed prior to the 2008 financial meltdown. The subprime crisis was big and bad and Obama did not let it go to waste. Blaming Bush, he used it for “hope and change” and he did indeed change our country.

The damage done by this president is incalculable.

Do you want Hillary Clinton to fix the mess? Joe Biden? Jeb Bush? Or, as millions are doing, will you turn to a government outsider like Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, or Ted Cruz? Do you trust the Republican leadership to keep their word? What about Donald Trump?

Trump would be a BIG risk. If we nominate him, and elect him, we would be counting on a huge roll of the dice. In the wake of Obama’s devastating presidency and the ineffectiveness of the Republican leadership, many are willing to take the chance.
