Ever notice that the same people who complain about political correctness are the same ones who cave to it? Ted Cruz and Newt Gingrich provide two of the most recent examples when it comes to Donald Trump’s now provably warranted concerns about a judge with Mexican heritage.

When Donald Trump called out Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s Mexican heritage as being a reason behind Trump’s unfair treatment by Curiel, the #NeverTrump crowd rose up in righteous indignation against him. Conservatives did the same, even Ted Cruz. Newt Gingrich – a Trump supporter who all but torpedoed his own shot at the vice presidential nomination – decried Trump’s charge. Trump alleged that Curiel is politically motivated because Trump wants to build a wall. On Fox News Sunday, Newt called it one of “the worst mistakes” Trump has made:

All of those conservatives who like to tell us they can’t stand political correctness are being… well… politically correct.

For starters, as Bill O’Reilly rightly pointed out, attorneys for the plaintiff in the case against Trump University paid the Clintons well more than $500,000 for speeches.

Moreover, as Trump is being called a racist for pointing to a political issue (the wall) being a bone of contention for Curiel, it’s been learned that Curiel belongs to a group with “La Raza” in the name, the La Raza Lawyers Association. Now, people like O’Reilly will point out that the “La Raza” Curiel is connected to is completely unaffiliated with the other “La Raza” that wants open borders.

Really? And the Neo Nazi Party shares nothing in common with the Nazi Party or the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) shares nothing in common with the Black Panthers. Riiiiiiiight. The truth is that any group that calls itself “La Raza” is racist by definition. Not only that but why would an innocuous group pick such a politically charged name?

The fact remains that Curiel belongs to a group which translated means, “the Race”. Which “race” would that be? Gee… um… HISPANIC / MEXICAN perhaps?

Curiel is clearly a very racially minded individual, which makes the line of questioning levied at Trump by Jake Tapper recently irrelevant. When Tapper suggested Trump had a problem with Curiel because of Curiel’s Mexican heritage despite the fact that Curiel is a U.S. citizen, Tapper was laying a trap. The entire question was premised on Trump being a racist when that wasn’t Trump’s beef at all. Trump’s point – while it could have been expressed better – was that Curiel is politically motivated. Belonging to a group called “La Raza” should be all the proof one needs.

The real problem, however, is the hypocrisy of conservatives and Republicans who don’t have the guts to stand by Trump and instead cave to political correctness.

Unfortunately, at least two of those individuals are Ted Cruz and Newt Gingrich.
