How is this not a bombshell? Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan says in hearings that…

“…he did not know whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian operatives and said the contacts may have been benign.”

That’s an excerpt from the New York Times story following the hearings.

But guess what the headline is?

“Ex-C.I.A. Chief Reveals Mounting Concern Over Trump Campaign and Russia.”

Yes, that was part of the story. But Brennan’s concerns never seemed to lead to any evidence. So what would your headline have been? What the Times chose? Or perhaps,

“Ex-C.I.A. Chief says Agency had no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion.”

With all the media blather about collusion, this is at least the second major Intel chief, along with former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper to go on the record saying there’s no evidence. So what are we investigating?

Video: Brennan being grilled about collusion. Finally at the 2:35 mark, he says he doesn’t know.

Call it the Deep State Media.

Or at least the Anti Trump Media (ATM). The gist of the Times’ story was that Brennan and others in the Intel community realized that the presidential election was under attack and “feared” that Donald Trump’s campaign might be aiding that fight.

Brennan and Clapper are both part the Obama administration, so perhaps this was natural. The next step, after suspicion, is gathering evidence. Opps. Maybe they’re doing that and maybe they have Trump in a box. But so far – no evidence of that sort has been made public.

Video: Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper says that, to his knowledge, there is no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians. From Clapper’s interview with Chuck Todd on NBC’s Meet the Press on March 5, 2017.

In fact, the revelations that Brennan did not know of any collusion is about six graphs down in the story:

When he left his post in January, he said, “I had unresolved questions in my mind as to whether or not the Russians had been successful in getting U.S. persons involved in the campaign or not to work on their behalf.”

Mr. Brennan acknowledged that he did not know whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian operatives and said the contacts might have been benign.

The Times then tells us for the umpteenth time that:

“U.S. Intelligence agencies have concluded that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, tried to damage Hillary Clinton’s candidacy and help Trump.”

This is stated as fact the New York Times.

Yes, we know that the ATM is concerned about Russian meddling.

That’s all we read in the New York Times, the Washington Post and hear on CNN and MSNBC. It’s so bad that when the concert in Manchester was attacked by an Islamic terrorist who killed 22 people and injured 150 more, CNN and MSNBC had difficulty tearing themselves away from the Trump collusion story. FOX News went wall to wall on the terrorist attack almost immediately.

Video: Published on May 23, 2017 – The Hill’s media reporter Joe Concha blasts CNN and MSNBC for delaying coverage of the Manchester terror attack to keep the focus on Trump and Russia.

Any freshman journalism student should know that a new development in a story is your headline.

I knew before Brennan testified that he was going to blather on about collusion. But I was surprised to hear that he would admit to not knowing of any evidence of such collusion. That’s an angle that does fit the left-wing narrative. That’s why it was buried.
