LOGIC MINUTE
by Lynn Woolley

Wait just a minute. Gays want to force Christian bakeries to make wedding cakes for same sex couples. But when gay hotel owner Ian Reisner hosted an event for Ted Cruz, he was threatened with boycotts.

So gays can force others to provide services for them against their will – but mount protests when a gay man willingly provides a service to a conservative presidential candidate.

This is what we mean by “gay totalitarianism.”

It’s the new reality in which rights flow from Christians and other conservatives to gays – but not the other way around. Naturally, Reisner was soon on Facebook with deep apologies. His sin, of course, was providing a service to a politician that disagrees with gay marriage and wants to allow the states to make their own laws. But if Reisner could refuse Cruz – what about that Christian baker? Or Memories Pizza?

Refuse Cruz — or else!

Ian Reisner is one of two gay hoteliers that own the Out NYC hotel and Fire Island Pines. The New York Times had reported on a dinner that took place in April at a duplex co-owned by Reiner and his (business) partner Mati Weiderpass. It was described as a fireside chat and not a fundraiser.

But here’s the rub.

These two men are big shots in the homosexual rights community. And to host Ted Cruz! – what must they have been thinking? Maybe Reisner was thinking about Cruz’s unflinching support for Israel – a point of view he shares with the Texas senator.

But with Cruz sponsoring legislation to preserve the rights of states to ban gay marriage, Reisner is seen as a traitor. To make matters worse, Cruz has asked pastors to hold prayer services on April 28th while the Supreme Court makes a personal decision for each American — pro or con gay marriage. The gay rights movement can’t have one of their own throwing in with a rabid conservative like Cruz.

Shaken to the bone, Ian Reisner caves – big time.

The gay totalitarians threatened to put him out of business. But he quickly apologized on Facebook and got 8,200 “likes” by Sunday night.

“I am shaken to my bones by the emails, texts, postings and phone calls of the past few days. I made a terrible mistake. I was ignorant, naïve and much too quick in accepting a request to co-host a dinner with Cruz at my home without taking the time to completely understand all of his positions on gay rights.

“I’ve spent the past 24 hours reviewing videos of Cruz’s statements on gay marriage and I am shocked and angry. I sincerely apologize for hurting the gay community and so many of our friends, family, allies, customers and employees. I will try my best to make up for my poor judgment. Again, I am deeply sorry.”

Well, that’s a total capitulation to the gay totalitarians. So much for freedom – and so much for reasonable gays working with someone they agree with on other issues. But he had to, I suppose. He was trying to head off a scheduled protest march in front of the Out NYC Hotel.

Already, “Broadway Cares,” an HIV/AIDS fundraising group had cancelled an annual event at a nightclub the two men own.

It’s too bad Reisner had no guts.

A gay man standing up to the gay totalitarians would have been awesome – and inspiring. It would have ingratiated him to some conservatives. He could have said of the gay totalitarians, let them eat cake — if they can force somebody to bake them one.

But alas. All he has proven is that gays will attack anyone who disagrees with them even if that person is also gay.
