The Trump administration is trying to undo the Obama administration’s extrapolation of the term “sex” to mean “gender identity.” The deadline to submit comments to the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services on this all-important rule is August 13, at midnight.

From Wikipedia: Gender symbols intertwined. The red (left) is the female Venus symbol. The blue (right) represents the male Mars symbol.

Even if your comments are short, the final tallies by the DHHS can make a huge difference when added together with other comments from across the nation in support of the biologically sound terms “male” and “female.”

OUR COMMENTS SUBMITTED TO THE U. S. DEPT. OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES – DONNA AND WAYNE GARNER

“Nondiscrimination in Health and Health Education Programs or Activities” — ID: HHS-OCR-2019-0007-0001 – RIN 0945-AA11; CFR:42 CFR Parts 438, 440, and 460
Federal Register Number:2019-11512 – Filed June 14, 2019

My husband and I support the following statement from the American College of Pediatricians. The meaning of “sex” in all U. S. government documents should be “male” or “female.” There is no biological basis for any other definitions.

QUOTE: No one is born with a gender. Everyone is born with a biological sex. Gender (an awareness and sense of oneself as male or female) is a sociological and psychological concept; not an objective biological one. No one is born with an awareness of themselves as male or female; this awareness develops over time and, like all developmental processes, may be derailed by a child’s subjective perceptions, relationships, and adverse experiences from infancy forward. People who identify as “feeling like the opposite sex” or “somewhere in between” do not comprise a third sex. They remain biological men or biological women.

The following document written by Jane Robbins provides fact-based support for limiting the term “sex” to biological terminology.
