When Donald Trump named Mike Pompeo as the new CIA Director, he was cheered. Pompeo is a graduate of West Point and was first in his class. He also served on the House Intelligence Committee as well as the House Select Committee on Benghazi. By all accounts, Pompeo was a perfect choice for cleaning up the CIA.
Not so fast.
Since assuming the position, Pompeo is now going after Wikileaks. During a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Pompeo referred to the Assange-run website as, “a hostile intelligence service”. However, not so long ago, Pompeo praised Wikileaks.

What this appears to show is that if the tail is wagging the dog anywhere in Washington, it’s here. Nameless, faceless intelligence operatives are the ones who come out looking more powerful than Pompeo here.
As a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, Pompeo was part of a group that fell short. Nothing really came of the investigation. In fact, the biggest story that DIDN’T come out of the committee was the connections of Huma Abedin to the Muslim Brotherhood, which played a role in the Benghazi attacks.
