Trey Gowdy’s Blatant Double Standard

Trey TOR

In 2018, Rep. Trey Gowdy has no problem with learning that the FBI spied on the Trump campaign in 2016. Yet, when he was the chairman of the House Benghazi committee in 2014, he also had no problem with a Muslim Brotherhood spy at the U.S. State Department. In fact, he ignored it.

During a recent appearance on Fox News, Gowdy said:

“I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump.”

Trey is excusing illegal behavior. This runs counter to everything he wants us to believe about him. At every turn, Gowdy has told us that he has no interest in politics. He only cares about that blind lady holding a set of scales. He’s all about calling balls and strikes.

In 2014, Gowdy became the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

Especially relevant is that the Benghazi committee was responsible for what would become the Hillary Clinton email investigation. In the summer of 2014, the committee requested Clinton’s emails and State Department lawyers stumbled across her personal email domain.

A new scandal was born.

Email Server Discovery was a Major Flashpoint

The Benghazi committee was certainly not historic. However, Hillary’s email server scandal was. It was a flashpoint in U.S. history.

That scandal became so big that not even the media could make it go away. Most noteworthy is that it exploded in an election year. Barack Obama’s Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI had to exonerate Hillary at all costs.

Then Attorney General Loretta Lynch had a meeting with Bill Clinton on a Phoenix tarmac days before Hillary interviewed with the FBI. Days later, Comey assumed a level of authority he did not have and publicly exonerated Hillary after chronicling her real crimes.

Those two acts – one by Lynch and one by Comey – were blatantly egregious. To the Democrats, however, they were necessary. The scandal had become that big.

The Benghazi committee was to blame. More specifically, to the Democrats, Gowdy was more so, even if indirectly. If not for the committee, that server would not have been discovered. Someone was responsible.

We now know that as the DOJ and FBI were busy exonerating Hillary in 2016, they were equally busy attempting to frame Trump.

First, they needed to protect Hillary’s candidacy and campaign. The scandal was that bad. It was so bad that the FBI had to investigate Trump – with human spies – as it was protecting Hillary.

Trey Gowdy is today, defending that behavior. He does so as if he’s making up for the shameful act of discovering Hillary’s server.

The Spy Trey Ignored

In response to relentless pressure, Speaker John Boehner named Trey chairman of the Benghazi committee in the spring of 2014. Republicans and conservatives cheered. Unfortunately, few noticed that Gowdy appointed a man named Phillip Kiko as his Executive Director.

This should have been a major red flag. At that moment, the committee became compromised.

Kiko is a lobbyist and attorney who represented Muslim Brotherhood front group, Muslim Advocates. This should have disqualified Kiko because of a severe conflict of interest.

Muslim Brotherhood attackers perpetrated the attacks in Benghazi.

At the time, Hillary’s closest aide was Huma Abedin. Abedin is a Muslim Brotherhood operative (spy). Her mother Saleha Abedin, is one of 63 leaders of the Muslim Sisterhood. Also at the time, the Muslim Brotherhood ruled Egypt. Mohammed Mursi was the president. Mursi’s wife is also one of those 63 leaders.

Furthermore, attackers were caught on video claiming that Mursi had sent them.

It would seem that chief among Trey’s priorities should have been the truth about Huma.

Yet, his committee never once even broached the subject. Trey and his fellow committee members ignored Huma’s Muslim Brotherhood ties.

In fact, one committee member – Lynn Westmoreland – signed a letter just two years earlier that called out Abedin’s connections to the Brotherhood.

However, even when the committee interviewed Abedin, this never came up. And Westmoreland was present during that interview.

What it All Means

Speculators abound when it comes to why Gowdy is defending espionage inside the Trump campaign. It doesn’t make sense.

A guy who reveres a blindfolded lady holding a set of scales shouldn’t do such a thing.

However, that same guy looked the other way when a Muslim Brotherhood spy should have been at the heart of his committee’s investigation.

It seems like Trey is guilty of the same thing Obama’s DOJ and FBI is.

He protected Hillary and is undermining Trump.

Furthermore, he’s behaving like someone who threw the Benghazi investigation and wants to make sure the Deep State investigation doesn’t dig too deep.

It could find a truth that Trey wants to remain hidden.
