Brennan, a national security adviser and CIA head under President Obama, is becoming a flashpoint in the Russia investigation.

Specifically, Brennan appears on MSNBC daily, as a far-left, Trump-hating, paid commentator. It is chilling to think that a person with such power — and who in 1980 voted for the Communist Party candidate, held such high positions.

Brennan’s anti-Trump commentary borders on dangerous.

NBC/MSNBC’s John Brennan

After the Helsinki summit, he characterized Trump’s performance as:

“…nothing short of treasonous.”

Brennan may, in fact, be the driving force behind the entre Russian probe. According to Kimberly Strassel, in the Wall Street Journal, he takes credit for shaping the Russia narrative as an excuse for Hillary Clinton’s loss.

Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence head James Clapper have no business being TV talking heads.

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is calling for Brennan to lose his security clearance.

The Kentucky Republican is urging President Trump to revoke Brannan’s security clearance. Paul is correct – and Trump should make it so.

Traditionally, in our country, the heads of our big national security agencies are public servants dedicated to preventing international and internal threats to the United States. To that end, most people in such positions eschew hard-core political points of view.

For example, George H.W. Bush once headed the CIA. GHWB has never, to my knowledge, gone on any television show at any time to say the kinds of things that Brennan and Clapper say every day.

Sen. Paul asks in a tweet whether Brennan is “monetizing his security clearance.” He goes on:

“Is John Brennan making millions of dollars divulging secrets to the mainstream media with his attacks on Donald Trump?”

I agree strongly with Paul.

Former heads of agencies like the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the Secret Service have no business going on television for pay and attacking the current administration. That’s the way it was for decades – and that the way it should be today.

That includes Clapper – and former FBI Director James Comey who is out telling his audiences to vote for Democrats.

“Pay to Play” with the cable nets?

Sara Carter reports on a big award that CNN won in late April 2018 – that might have some via the revolving door between national security agencies and CNN/MSNBC:

CNN walked away with a prestigious journalism award at Saturday night’s White House Correspondent’s Association dinner for their role in making public a briefing by intelligence officials to then President-elect Donald Trump. CNN reported the briefing “included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump.” But the information briefed to the President was also leaked to the media by one of the same senior Obama administration officials who orchestrated the briefing and was hired by CNN months later as a paid analyst.

That would be James Clapper who is now thought to have leaked to CNN. And, of course, he later began claiming a paycheck from that same network.

By August 2017, Clapper was hired by CNN as an analyst but the network never disclosed that Clapper was a major source behind the leak of an unproven and salacious dossier when he joined the network. News agencies and reporters never disclose their sources, it would be unethical, but isn’t it also unethical to pay sources for information or give sources jobs as analysts for your news outlet after they’ve been illegally leaking classified information?

Is this ethical? In no possible way.

Are CNN (with Clapper) and NBC/MSNBC (with Brennan) doing it? Absolutely.

Both these guys know a lot of things based on the trust put in them because of their former positions. To sell that information to a cable network either to get hired or to get scoops, or to get Trump – seems more treasonous to me than Trump’s performance in Helsinki.

House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte wants to drag Brennan in for hearings.

Is way past time to do this. Goodlatte is ready to roll:

“We have lots of questions for John Brennan and he will definitely be sought by the committees for an interview,” Goodlatte said on “Sunday Morning Futures.” “This is an extremely disturbing thing to see both he and [former FBI Director] James Comey, supposedly impartial government officials carrying out their jobs in very important areas in intelligence gathering and law enforcement, express the kind of extreme bias that they’ve shown—which I think reflects quite accurately what they were doing back in 2016.”

The WSJ’s Strassel is clearly onto Brennan – and Clapper, and so are Paul and Goodlatte – and these two turkeys are going to be exposed. Comey doesn’t have a network gig yet, but watch for it. Possessing inside information and hating Trump is a combination that CNN and MSNBC can’t resist.

It’s time for these networks to do the right thing. Fire Brennan and Clapper and start reporting and analyzing news without the constant anti-Trump bias.
