The issue of Global Warming seems so yesterday.

I always thought immigration would be part of the eventual reckoning between liberals and conservatives – but the fight over gun control is a surprise. Now that former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens has come out for elimination of the Second Amendment, the genie is out of the bottle. The Left will only be satisfied by confiscation.

Meanwhile, elected officials around San Diego and Orange County are at war with Sacramento elites over immigration –while California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is having a cat over a proposed census question.

Know this: the Left is making its move.

It’s not about climate or abortion anymore. It’s about gun confiscation and open borders – and the winning side will either preserve the America we knew — or create something totally different.

The Civil War over gun rights.

We know that liberals never let a crisis go to waste. The shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School provided the opportunity for anti-gun leftists to hijack the campaign by well-meaning students to halt school shootings.

Now that Justice Stevens has popped off about the Second Amendment being “…a relic of the 18th Century…” the battle over gun control is now fast tracked. There is no more pretense that the sides can agree. There is likewise no pretense that this is anything but a movement of the far Left.

In a Civil War, as in 1865, one side wins and one side loses.

If the consortium of conservatives, Republican’s, originalists, sportsmen, NRA members, and other gun owners win — then we’ll keep our rights. We’ll look for more effective ways to stop school shootings – such as arming some teachers and other staff. Remember, after 9/11, we placed unidentified, armed marshals on some flights – and hijackings virtually disappeared.

If the “students” (note that a new survey claims that only 10 percent of the DC marchers were teenagers), Democrats, the anti-gun lobby, and anti-hunting crowd wins, we’ll be lucky to keep our revolvers.

We may get visits from the government asking about the semi-automatics and other weapons that would no longer be legal. Some, but not all, will hand over their guns, but criminals will not. The government will be in a far stronger position if we ever get a Hitler-type that wants to be a strongman.

That mythical person is NOT President Trump. He’s already tweeted that the Second Amendment will never be repealed. But he will not be president forever, and if the next chief executive comes from the far Left – the calculus changes.

“SB 54 makes local law enforcement’s job more difficult and requires bureaucratic processes that could allow dangerous individuals to fall through the cracks of our justice system,” Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens said. (FOX News)

One side or the other is going to lose the immigration fight too.

This is where Texas and California are Ground Zero. In Texas, liberals are fighting a new law that prevents Sanctuary Cities. In California, conservatives are fighting new laws that protect illegal aliens from the feds.

We can’t be a unified nation with Texas and California on totally opposite sides – and another states lining up to support one or the other.

Again, the masks are coming off. The Left, especially in California, is no longer pretending that federal laws matter. The state, by passing new laws, intends to fully protect illegals including those that have committed felonies in our country. But some cities, at least one county, and a variety of law enforcement officials are fighting back.

There is no room for comprise.

The gun control debate, from the standpoint of the Left, is now about confiscation. The immigration battle is about granting all rights of citizenship, including the vote, to people who are in our country illegally. Few on the Right will ever compromise on these issues.

We are in a modern Civil War. What kind of country the United States will be – or if it will continue to be a country — lies in the balance.

The ballot box is where we must protect our gun rights. Our senator, John Cornyn, has long proclaimed to be a champion of our gun rights. That has now proven to be a lie. He supported an anti gun law that will do no good to appease our left wing fake news media and liberal democrats. Now, when that doesn’t work, how long will it be before Cornyn wants another anti gun law? It is time to get rid of Cornyn, he has proven to be just another lying liberal establishment RINO who will not stand up for Texas values.
