One of Watergate’s five burglars blew that scandal wide open. Once James McCord saw he was going to take the fall for following orders, he decided to become a canary from his prison cell. A relatively unknown FBI man named Bill Priestap appears poised to choose a similar path. As a result, what is quickly becoming known as Obamagate is starting to look even more like Watergate than it already does.

Until FBI Agent Peter Strzok was re-assigned last year, his boss was Priestap, Assistant Director of the Counterintelligence Division. On her February 10th show, Judge Jeanine Pirro interviewed Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT). Stewart sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).

Of all the players in the Obamagate scandal, Priestap avoids mention more than anyone else. As a result, many have speculated that he has cut a deal and is cooperating with investigators. In her exchange with Stewart, Pirro seems convinced that Priestap is doing just that. Stewart does little to dispel it.

Here is the relevant audio from the video above:

In that exchange, Pirro referenced former FBI Director James Comey throwing Priestap under the bus. What she was referring to was testimony Comey gave to HPSCI in March of 2017. In particular, Comey told Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) that it was Priestap who instructed him not to notify Congress of the investigation the FBI was conducting on Trump.

After she got Comey to concede that the FBI should brief Congress quarterly on all counterintelligence investigations, Stefanik wanted to know why Congress wasn’t briefed on the investigation of Trump for several months after it began. Comey decided to throw Priestap under the bus. As a result, Priestap very well may refuse to accept that.

Pirr0 Brings up Priestap to Hannity

A few days prior to interviewing Stewart, Pirro appeared on Sean Hannity’s television show. While discussing the Obamagate scandal with Hannity, Pirro brought up Priestap’s name. Hannity appeared not to know the name at all; he avoided discussing it. Hannity has been as close to the truth on this scandal as anyone; he has sources. Does he not know who Priestap is or was he intentionally trying to avoid talking about him?

Here is the relevant audio:

James McCord

In June of 1972, James McCord was arrested at the Watergate hotel after he and four other men had broken in. He had been hired by the Nixon administration’s Jack Caulfield to wiretap DNC headquarters. Prior to working for Nixon, McCord had been a CIA agent.

As the Watergate scandal unfolded, Nixon decided the only way to escape was to pin the Watergate break-ins on the CIA.  In his mind, McCord was following orders not from the CIA but from the President’s office. However, Nixon needed the burglars to appear far removed. As a result, McCord realized he was being hung out to dry.

In December of 1972, McCord could see the writing on the wall. He was being set up to take the fall. Hence, McCord penned a letter to Caulfield with a stark warning if the CIA Director was fired:

“Sorry to have to write you this letter but felt you had to know. if Helms goes, and if the WG (Watergate) operation is laid at the CIA’s feet, where it does not belong, every tree in the forest will fall. It will be a scorched desert. The whole matter is at the precipice right now. Just pass the message that if they want it to blow, they are on exactly the right course. I’m sorry that you will get hurt in the fallout.”

On January 30, 1973 McCord and his co-defendants were sentenced to prison for burglary, conspiracy and wiretapping.

One month later, Nixon fired CIA Director Richard Helms. The following month, McCord made good on his threat, writing to the Judge who presided over his trial, John Sirica. In that letter, McCord admitted to committing perjury under pressure to do so by Nixon’s White House Counsel and Attorney General.

This Scandal REALLY IS Like Watergate

Whenever a political scandal rears its head, people put “gate” on the end of it. However, the comparisons rarely fit. Watergate was about one political party spying on the opposition party.

That is precisely what Obamagate is all about. Hillary Clinton and the DNC paid law firm Perkins Coie. Perkins Coie retained Fusion GPS. Fusion GPS hired former MI6 spy Christopher Steele to get dirt on Trump from the Russians. Steele compiled an unverified dossier and funneled it to the FBI. The FBI then used that dossier as the basis for obtaining FISA warrants.

According to the Nunes Memo released on February 2nd, Priestap confessed that the dossier was in its “infancy” when the first FISA application was filed.

If that’s true, the FBI had no business filing that application in the first place.

These scandals are so similar that the only difference between McCord and Priestap could be one of semantics. Priestap may be singing loud enough to avoid prison time. McCord started singing once in his cell.

Did Priestap learn from history?
