It’s odd to think it – but Steve Bannon, the self-avowed enemy of the Administrative State – may be more effective now that’s he’s out of the White House. Bannon has said in the past that we could do with about 10 percent of the bureaucrats we now pay to regulate us.

And he has little love for establishment Republicans.

He’s back at Breitbart now – and has been talking to Charlie Rose for a “60 Minutes” segment. Behind the scenes, he’s hooking up with Andy Surabian, his political adviser inside the Trump administration, who’s also leaving the White House.

Surabian is going to work for an Ed Rollins group called “Great America Alliance.”

Look for that organization – and Bannon – and some high-roller conservative business execs, to go after anti Trump members of the GOP establishment. Bannon is out of the White House, but he may be more powerful than ever.

Here are some Bannon-related factoids from Axios’ Jonathan Swan:

• “Great America Alliance” is a companion group to Rollins’ “Great America PAC that pumped $30 million into Trump’s campaign.
• Bannon’s anti-establishment friends include New York billionaire Bob Mercer, Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, and technology mogul Peter Thiel.
• Bannon and Surabian might go after GOP establishment incumbents in 2-18 Senate races in states like Nevada and Arizona – namely Jeff Flake. (Note that 81-year old John McCain is in his 6th term and unlikely to run again.)
• Bannon may throw the support of Brietbart and Great American Alliance behind conservative activist Danny Tarkanian (son of basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian) in Nevada.
• Mercer has already spent $300,000 into a super-PAC supporting Kelli Ward, primary opponent of GOP Senator Jeff Flake, a never Trumper.
• The Rollins group may very well be planning a full assault on anti-Trump forces within the GOP congressional majority.

There is also this to worry the GOP establishment and other member of the Swamp:

Former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke is joining the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action as a spokesman and senior adviser.

Jeff Flake

As Bannon told 60 Minutes: “I’m a street fighter.”

Getting rid of a great deal of the Administrative State a.k.a. “Draining the Swamp” is never easy. Whether it’s at City Hall or in the Halls of Congress, the Swamp is engrained, powerful, and determined to take care of its own.

That’s why members of Congress serve so long; they have every legislative and monetary advantage that the Swamp can think of.

If Bannon can fight harder, and more aggressively outside the White House – and if President Trump is still on his side – then the Swamp might be wounded at least.

Here’s what else Bannon told Charlie Rose:

He said that national Economic Council Director Gary Cohn should have resigned if he didn’t agree with President Trump’s comments about Charlottesville.

He said the Neo-Nazis and Neo-Confederate and the Klan are “absolutely awful.” He accused the Catholic Church of wanting a steady stream of illegal aliens to fill church pews.  And there was this little gem:

“Trump’s predecessors left him Vietnam in Afghanistan, the Cuban Missile Crisis in North Korea, and the Bay of Pigs in Venezuela.”

That sort of nails it. And when you add to that the broken immigration system, and the Obamacare disaster, Trump inherited the biggest mess left behind by any modern president. That is to say that Obama’s presidency is remarkable only by its massive failures.

The mess is Trump’s to clean up. And Bannon seems poised to help.

I absolutely applaud this. We need to get rid of the RINOs that are destroying the Republican party. We heard the lie “repeal Obamacare” for over 7 years. When the opportunity arrived, the house passed RINOcare and the incompetent senate gave us the Moe, Larry and Curly show and did nothing. If they do the same thing over reform of our insane tax code, the Republican party is over. We need primary challengers to include the Texas house. Liberal RINO Byron Cook is being challenged by Thomas McNutt, and liberal RINO JD Sheffield is being challenged by Chris Evans. You may not vote in those districts but your checkbook can. Please donate to the challengers and get rid of Cook and Sheffield. We also need challengers for Scott Cosper and Hugh Shine. Also donate to US senate challengers.
