When President Trump talks tough about enforcing immigration law, he isn’t kidding.

According to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle, ICE is preparing to sweep the Bay Area and other venues in Northern California to target more than 1,500 illegals. If it happens, this will be a major operation and big statement made by the Trump administration in opposition to California’s new status as a sanctuary state.

This fact isn’t lost on Senator Dianne Feinstein who accuses Trump of trying to make a point.

Yes. Illegal immigration is illegal, and states should not be able to circumvent the law – not even California. But the Golden States fancies itself to be above the others. In October, Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown signed Senate Bill 54 into law, making the entire state a sanctuary for illegals. We’ll see how that holds up.

Is the California law a harbinger?

It may be. New Jersey has a new governor, and we may see a similar sanctuary state law there. Frankly, even with the election of Donald Trump, I see the nation moving leftward at a frantic pace. The Millennials have been taught in liberals schools, and pretty much sympathize with the plight of illegal immigrants known as Dreamers.

Schools are not moving to the right and neither is Hollywood.

Most of the pop stars from Katie Perry to Madonna are left-wingers. The three big internet powers – Facebook, Amazon, and Google – control much the information that Millennials consume, and they are all liberal. These are the institutions and people that influence opinions held by young people. They aren’t watching FOX News or listening to Rush, Hannity, or me.

So, yes, California could win this with a vote by 9 people wearing black robes. If that happens, left-leaning states will emulate California.

Meanwhile immigration is wrecking the Golden State.

How else to explain that nearly one out of five Californians is poor? Yes, good old, left-wing Callie has the highest poverty rate in the country, according to the Census Bureau. California is poor despite spending billions on welfare to the point that, with 12 percent of the U.S. population, California is home to one out of three of the country’s welfare recipients.

There is no way this is not related to immigration – no matter what Gov. Moonbeam says. Some 55 percent of immigrants receive means-tested benefits. Only 30 percent of the native-born population in Callie does. If trends continue, California’s Sanctuary State Law could destroy it.

Buzz about Bezos.

Jeff Bezos (Wikipedia)

Reports say that the world’s richest human, Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie, have forked over $33 million dollars to go toward scholarships for Dreamers – but earmarked nothing for students who are American citizens. Bezos can do this, of course, because We The People bought stuff on his website, Amazon, and made him rich to the tune of $105 billion.

Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post, is liberal off the scales – as are the movers and shakers at Facebook and Google. (Not to mention Microsoft and Apple.)
These are the high tech companies that work to form opinion – and they are succeeding.

Points of conflict.

On the one hand, you have schools, Hollywood, pop music, captains of technology, and left-wing pols in states like California moving us to a borderless, high-welfare society in which immigration laws are being ignored.

On the other hand, California is mired in poverty and debt and is going broke, to a large extent because of its immigration policies.

Something has to give. States cannot ignore immigration laws and still be able to deal with the skyrocketing cost of taking care of millions of illegals. California is finding that out, yet refuses to renounce the liberal ideology that calls for sanctuary policies.

President Trump is the nation’s last, best hope to stop the insanity of illegal immigration. He sees the problem, he knows how to fix it, and he can – with the help of Republicans in Congress and citizens like us. If the Jeff Flakes of the world have their way, he won’t be able to do it.

Illegal immigration is the issue that got Trump elected – even if GOP stalwarts on the Hill refuse to believe it. It is the existential crisis that America faces. Solve it and we can make America great again. If we go the way of California, America may very well become a hellhole similar to the countries that illegal immigrants are trying to escape.
