Chalk up a win for the Rule of Law.

Texas State Rep. Chris Turner

The 5th U.S. Court of Appeals has upheld all the major provisions of Texas’ Sanctuary City Law that prevents local officials from working at cross-purposes with federal immigration laws and ICE. Upon hearing the news, Grand Prairie Rep. Chris Turner, the head of the House Democrat Caucus vowed to keep up the fight.

“Senate Bill 4 is unnecessary, makes Texas communities less safe, and complicates law enforcement officials’ already difficult jobs.”

That’s pretty much in line with the talking points being used in California, a state in open rebellion of federal immigration laws. Whether there or in Texas, the idea that NOT enforcing laws makes us safer is perhaps the most idiotic thing Democrats say. They can’t possibly believe it. What they really mean is – we need votes and we’re willing to take in criminals to get them.

A federal court upholds the law! Imagine that!

The ruling is in effect until the lower court is done with it. The lower court will likely rule in favor of Sanctuary Cities such as Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston. And then, it may pass through the 5th Circuit again on its way to the Supreme Court.

In the meantime, it’s quite refreshing to see a court – any court – stand for the law and the Constitution.

This is – would be – a slam-dunk except for left-wing judges. There was day when judges routinely upheld the law because, well, that’s what the job is. Now, being a judge is about political ideology. Liberals know where the leftist judges are, and they file their suits in those courts.

For the time being, logic will be in effect.

Under Senate Bill 4, the State of Texas can:

• Put officials in jail if they refuse to comply with federal laws.
• Fine officials up to $25,000 per day for refusing to comply with federal laws.
• Remove officials that ignore or disobey the law.

Texas cities and towns and college campuses that have sanctuary policies that protect illegal aliens must roll them back. If they don’t, they are subject to the same penalties.

Meanwhile, there are many cases that put the lie to the “Sanctuary Cities are safer” nonsense.

Jenny Garcia

• Note that Jenny Garcia was brutally raped and stabbed to death in her home by an illegal immigrant that had been deported once, and was known to the authorities in Austin.

• The man who shot Kate Steinle in San Francisco had been deported at least five times, and was well known to local police.

• Just days ago, in Colorado, a 26-year-old, drunk, illegal alien was involved in a fatal hit-and-run. He was caught and ICE came to pick him up, but Denver authorities let him out on bail less than hour before ICE could get there. He’s still at large as of this writing.

So, Rep. Chris Turner – how does this make us safer?

Of all the bull-crap we hear daily from Democrats, the constant carping that Sanctuary Cities make us safer is the stupidest, most insane thing they say. It is impossible to look at these three cases—and hundreds, if not thousands, more like them — and say that pandering to illegals by breaking or ignoring our own laws somehow makes us safer.

The families of these three dead people – and so many more – might beg to differ. In the meantime, let’s fight to win this case in the Supreme Court. If there is any way to shut up nutcase Democrats about Sanctuary Cities, that would be it.
